Peacefully, at The Village of Glendale Crossing, on Sunday, May 19th, 2013, in her 96th year. Beloved wife for 62 years of the late Frank Sherwood (2005). Loving mother of Cora Hillman (Ron), and cherished grandmother of Mike (Shirley) and Steve (Tracy) and great-grandmother of Connor, Madison, Josh, Jamie-Lee and Adam. Dearest sister and sister-in-law of Edith Sherwood (and the late Arthur John Sherwood). Also survived by four nephews and a niece in England. Predeceased by two sisters, Harriet Thomas (the late Jack) and Mary Lees (the late Enoch) and two brothers, George Cooper and Charlie Cooper (the late Alice). Born in Willenhall, Staffordshire, Win, Frank and Cora emigrated to Canada in 1952. She was employed for 20 years as a buyer and salesperson for Young Canada Department Store until she retired in 1976. She and Frank then spent many happy summers at Trillium Wood Trailer Park, near Parkhill, and snow-free winters in Destin, Florida. Win loved to go on holidays and really enjoyed their many trips, which included an Alaska cruise, visiting New England and the Maritimes, a train trip across Canada to British Columbia and bus tours while in Florida, along with several visits to England to see family and travel about the U.K. The funeral service will be conducted at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. Cremation with interment of ashes in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Win’s memory to the L.H.S.F. – Cancer Centre will be gratefully acknowledged.
We love you and will really miss you, Mom. Rest in Peace.
