Peacefully, on Saturday, May 24th, 2014, at Victoria Hospital, and surrounded by his loving family, Christos “Chris” Buzanis, of London, in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of 53 years to Georgina “Georgia” Buzanis (née Peppas). Loved and respected by his children: Maria (George Tsirimbis), of Chatham, Bessie (Sam Theocharis), of London, and Frank Buzanis (Paula Smith), also of London. Dear grandfather of Petroula, Steve, Christopher, Mia and Maggie. Survived by his siblings Georgina Kourvelos, Alexandra Gkitzias, Jim Buzanis and Noula Arvanitis. Predeceased by brothers Vasilis “Bill” Buzanis and Louie Buzanis. Chris was born in Greece, and immigrated to Canada in 1952. A successful restaurant owner for over 3 decades, Chris operated businesses in St. Thomas, Stratford and London, including the Wellington Square restaurant. Visitation will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Tuesday from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m., with prayers at 6:00 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at HOLY TRINITY GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH, 131 Southdale Road West, London, on Wednesday, May 28th, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Elias Drossos officiating. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Chris are asked to consider the Lung Association.
