Reinhardt ‘Ron’ Tippel

January 24, 2015

Peacefully, on Saturday, January 24th, 2015 at Victoria Hospital, in his 80th year, after a short battle with cancer.  Loving husband and best friend for over 53 years to Pauline (née Bauman).  Dear Dad to three sons:  Gary (Leona), Glenn and Stephen.  Proud Papa to Jessica, Jarrett, Jacob and Jonathan.  Survived by two sisters in Hungary, Dr. Margaret Torok, and Anna-Maria (Tihamer) Toth, three sisters in Canada, Elisabeth Fritz, Katherine Landon and Eva Tippel, and sisters-in-law Willi (Kerry) Robinson and Lorraine Bauman.  Missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his brother Henry (2009).  Ron was born in Hungary and immigrated to Canada in 1953.  He excelled in helping people, was a leader in the community and selflessly gave to others, especially his family.  Ron owned Aquatech Pools, a large swimming pool and landscaping firm, and was the building chairman of LGT Family Church and the Andover Gardens Seniors Apartments.  Always aiming higher, he soon found his true calling and joined Investors Group as a financial planner in London in 1982.  Ron retired in 2007 to a new-found passion for wind instruments and enjoyed playing sax and clarinet in small groups.  His passion, integrity, keen business sense and quirky sense of humour will be missed.  The family thanks the caring staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Victoria Hospital.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, January 31st, 2015 at 10:30 a.m.  Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.  Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Ron are asked to consider the Salvation Army or Mission Services of London.

My Canada will not be the same as it was so far. The first time I had the opportunity to visit Canada was in 1969, when we watched together the first human steps on the Moon, and I was only 15 years old. This was when I first met my „Canadian family” due to the tempests of the century. It was a new adventure to see a distinct world from what I knew before. Ron has greatly contributed to this experience as he wanted to show us as much as he could. He has always found a few minutes to visit the “farm” where the Hungarian family members have been accommodated with Grandma. And later, when I was in a difficult period, he and his beloved wife, Pauline, accepted to host my children and did their best to make them happy. I am most thankful for these nice days. I was lucky to have the opportunity to visit this loving couple in October 2013, the last from the “Hungarian” family to meet Ron. I can’t think of a Canada without him, he was so much part of my vision and experience. I will have to work hard to accept this change. However, I am quite sure, he was only able to pass because he felt the next generation is ready to take up the thread. The next generation are we. He was trusting us. It is our task and responsibility to care for the young and the old, accomplish our life lesson. And we can make it. We have models, exemplars as Ron, who has done his duties smiling, joking and playing music, just as if it was very simple. He would not like to see us losing heart. We should draw strength from Ron’s life history and attitude. We live in a much easier and richer world. We cannot fail. Just count on each other and do our best. This is his message according to my understating.

~ Kati Török, niece

So sad to read of Ron's passing. It has been 54 years since you and I were together at E.P.B.C. but I have often thought about you - "Polly". Isn't it wonderful to know that we will all meet again in Heaven? May God be with you and your family at this difficult time. With prayers, Marilyne
