Barbara Gundry
February 10, 2015
Passed away peacefully, with family by her side on Tuesday February 10, 2015 at Campbell House Hospice, Collingwood. Survived by her loving husband Paul; son Chris (Amy); daughter Katie (Roy Cameron) and sister Nancy (Harry) Swinkels. Predeceased by parents Lorne ‘Ted’ and Florence ‘Flo’ (née Black) Yoder. Forever cherished by her grandchildren: Emily, Abby, Reagan and Lena. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews. There could not be a more courageous warrior over the last few years than Barb. She faced her battles bravely with strength and determination. She was strong and she was athletic. At various times in her life she was a competitive swimmer, skater, basketball and racquetball player. She was a high school cheerleader, and enjoyed: skiing, canoe tripping and kayaking – she had no time for golf! But she had all the time in the world for her granddaughters, her quilting and her gardens and loved being at the cottage on Georgian Bay. The memorial service will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at 12:00 noon, with visitation one hour prior. Barb’s family would like to acknowledge and thank the angels, masquerading as special oncology nurses at the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre, for the exceptional compassion and care they have provided Barb and many others. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre, 581 Davis Drive, Newmarket, ON L3Y 2P6, Saint Elizabeth Health Care, 104 – 85 Ferris Lane, Barrie, ON L4M 9Z9, or Campbell House Hospice, 240 Erie Street, Collingwood, ON L9Y 0X8.
“When you die that does not mean you lose to cancer, you beat cancer by how you live, why you live and the manner in which you live. So live. Fight like hell”
– Stuart Scott, 1965 – 2015

Sincere condolences to Paul and family. Barb enjoyed teaching and was a dedicated leader in OSSTF. She spoke with enthusiasm regarding her family and particularly about the "many" wonderful trips with husband Paul. May thoughts of better times be of comfort to you.

So very sorry to hear about Barb. Saw her last April at annual TDHS lunch and hoped she'd won her battle. Barb was always a warrior, as an athlete, a teacher and as our ally in OSSTF when we needed her and I did! Barb was well known to TDHS staff as Paul's wife, so she attended our many social events over the years. Our heartfelt condolences to Paul and family.
