Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at the farm on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, Fern Butler of Arva, in her 97th year. Beloved wife of the late Thomas Henry Butler (2008). Cherished mother of Bonita “Bonnie” Louise Carey (Richard Baxter Carey), of Mount Brydges, Janine Alicia Butler (Denis Bolohan), of Cookstown, and Victoria “Vickie” Charlene Day (James “Corey” Day), of London. Missed by treasured niece Sharon Riley, of London. Predeceased by sisters Verda Sinclair and Elda Riley. The funeral service will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 3:00 p.m., with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. Interment at St. John Cemetery, Arva. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario.

We are new neighbours so we only had a chance to meet Fern a few times, but she was a lovely woman with a warm smile and nice sense of humour. It is with great sadness we heard of her passing. We knew she had been ill but did not want to intrude. However, know that our prayers are with you all.

Vickie, Corey, Bonnie, Rick, Janine, Denis -Our deepest sympathies. Your mom was very special. We will hold you in our thoughts and hearts during this sad time. I have been thinking of your mom these last couple of days - her love of the birds singing, the orchard, the farm, and of your mom and dad with Vickie picking me up (when we were much younger) and going to the beach for the day. We hope you find comfort in the memories that surround you.
Dearest Vickie, Corey, Bonnie, Rick, Janine and Denis, God bless you and keep you in the palm of His Hand. Please know that my love and prayers are with you all during this time of sorrow. I cannot be with you today because of a work commitment but I am sending you hugs and prayers. Words cannot express fully my sympathy.
