Dennis John Ronald

February 22, 2016

RONALD, Dennis John

1949 – 2016

With much courage and dignity, and surrounded by his family at home, Dennis John Ronald of London, on Monday, February 22nd, 2016 in his 67th year. Dearly loved father of Amie Ronald-Morgan (Chris), Shannon McGill (Aaron), Lindsay (Marc Riopelle), and Allie Purcell. Devoted and proud Papa of Donovan, Imogen, Alaya, Sonja, Leah, and Ethan. Long-time partner of Carrie Ronald. Cherished son of Thelma Ronald of Brantford and the late John (Jack) Ronald. Dear oldest brother to Donna Coyne (Bill), Brian Ronald (Diana), and Barbara Longo (John). Dennis will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews, cousins, his many friends, and his loyal companion, Bobby the beagle. A Brantford resident for most of his life, Dennis welded for Stelco Steel in Hamilton for almost four decades. Upon his retirement, he moved to London to be closer to his family, and treasured spending time with his kids and grandkids. Dennis was an avid fan of sports and music and had an encyclopedic knowledge of both subjects – and just about anything else you might want to hear of. Dennis loved to watch his London Knights and could talk about Coronation Street for hours. Dennis had a passion for mentoring young athletes and served as a coach for minor league hockey teams in Brantford and region. The family extends warmest thanks to Sherry Vergilio, RN (ParaMed), Dr. Kirk Hamilton & team, and the wonderful care Dennis received at the Cancer Centre and at University Hospital. Friends will be received at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Monday, February 29th, 2016 at 12:00 p.m., with a celebration of life service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery, Brantford. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Dennis are asked to consider the London Regional Cancer Program or a youth sporting charity of your choice.

Someone so special can never be forgotten. Stani

Thelma and family It is said throughout our years we have the opportunity to meet many many people in various stages in life. I think we would call them aquaintances However very few we would consider friends and only a few close friends. They say you don't need to see or talk to a friend every day week or month but when you need them they are there to help. To me Dennis was one of those special friends. From two teenagers from East Ward teaching Sunday school together, coaching baseball, hockey , Dennis trying to teach me how too play golf or Dennis managing the many bands we put together he was always willing to help in any way he could As we all know Dennis always had a story to tell with all the definitive details Whether you wanted to hear them or not. The time of day, who was there, the date, and how much gas was in the car who was driving and on and on. Puts a smile on my face just thinking about it There is no doubt my friend of 51 years will be missed but we will smile with the memories and knowing he touched many hearts with love and laughter. Love and condolences to family Reg and Roxine Schram

I worked with Dennis at Stelco, In Car Repair for several years. Dennis joined us on trips to Florida, and was a real nice guy. I know he will be missed, he loved his sports, especially hockey and Baseball. I never saw him since he retired, but he has always been in several of my conversations, about our time together, working and just hanging out. On our trip to Florida, He was the main driver behind the wheel of my van. He and I went to a Tampa Bay Lightning game, in Tampa, the night The Blue Jays won the World Series in 93. I know he'll be missed. He was a great one.
