Patricia Maude Marsh (née Bayer)

September 16, 2016

I wish you didn’t have to go

Born November 23, 1928 in Head of Jeddore, Nova Scotia. Passed away peacefully with family by her side at University Hospital, London, Ontario on Friday, September 16, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Lillian Grace (Manuel) and James Fulton Bayer, of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Survived by her son David (Lynne Hughes Marsh); much loved grandsons Connor, of British Columbia, and Kyle, of Toronto; sister Margaret Keizer; brothers Fulton (June) and Graham (Carol) Bayer, all of Nova Scotia; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her beloved husband Victor Eugene Marsh; sisters Joan Elizabeth Jacques and Marina Lillian Grayson; and brother William Bayer. She loved and cherished her family unconditionally, and made a positive difference in the lives of many people with her kindness, positive attitude, contagious optimism and love of life. It is remarkable the lives she has touched, making everyone around her always feel like family. She was quite the warrior, never complaining nor letting her illness define her; they were simply a footnote to her life. For many years she was Supervisor of the Red Cross Homemaker Service, Etobicoke Branch. In retirement, many wonderful years were spent ‘back home’ in Porters Lake, Nova Scotia. She enjoyed volunteer work, serving as member and Officer of the Eastern Star, Primrose Chapter No. 165, Toronto, and along with her husband, Founder and President of the Porters Lake Seniors Club. Energy is not destroyed, it is just transformed. The Pilot finally came for you Mom, hope you enjoy the journey. As Dad said from the other side: “The learning continues”. Such a gracious, kind, beautiful, loving woman, mother and grandmother. From your family, all our love, thank you for everything, and so long for now. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the nursing staff of the Dialysis and 10th floor Palliative Care Units at University Hospital. In particular the care she received from Drs. Faisal Rehman, Valerie Schulz and Shamidah Noorani over the years was nothing short of phenomenal. Thanks and appreciation are also extended to the staff at Windermere on the Mount, Retirement Residence (London) for their attentive loving support and care, and to Dr. Kirk Hamilton and the CCAC team. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Patricia’s life followed by the Service of Committal will take place at a later date in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada, London & District Chapter: 785 Wonderland Road South, Suite 203, London, Ontario  N6K 1M6.
