Katherine Schmidt

January 4, 2017

On Wednesday, January 4th, 2017, Kathy went to be with her Lord and Saviour as the result of a tragic accident at the age of 51.  Kathy was the beloved wife of James and adored mother of Jacob, Adam, Nathan, Emily and Hannah.  She was the loving daughter of Hugh and Donna Swain and sister to Cindy Archibald, Diane Rundle and Andrea Spoltore.  Kathy will also be greatly missed and fondly remembered by a multitude of extended family and friends. Kathy dedicated her life to caring for her beautiful family.  She enjoyed her work as an educational assistant with the Thames Valley District School Board and cared deeply for her students.  Kathy was a faithful member of West Park Church and active in many areas of service. Kathy will be remembered for her supermom capabilities, tender warmth, contagious laugh and generous spirit. A memorial service to celebrate and remember Kathy will be held at West Park Church, 955 Gainsborough Road, London, on Friday, March 31st, 2017 at 12:00 noon.  The family thanks everyone for their gracious support in this time of need. In memory of Kathy and in lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation are asked to consider the Thames Valley Children’s Centre (through the Children’s Health Foundation) or the Schmidt Family Education Fund (through Westview Funeral Chapel).

Hugh & Donna we have been praying that the God of all grace and comfort will sustain you and your families in your great loss. "Jesus wept" John 11:35. The throne of grace, where we make intercession for the saints, and our great High Priest, the Lord Jesus Christ mediates before the Father on our behalf. We sorrow with you but not as those who have no hope....because of Christ!

Kathy , the most spiritual , upbeat , down to earth lady I've had the pleasure of knowing for past 20 yrs . We met at Westpark and had groups together , and she was always interested in you and what was going on in your life . Then she returned to work and my times were often by chance at the superstore or walking with Jim in the neighbourhood . It wasn't too long ago they came up behind me and she stopped to talk a bit, little did I know that would be our last encounter . Too young to be taken back . My heartfelt prayers to her amazing children who by her guidence will lean on The Lord to lead them . Prayers for Her husband as he recouperates in the long road ahead of him. If I can be of any service , to help accomadate with rides , food prep, house cleaning , or if need help in caring for your father upon his return home I'm willing and able . I just lost a dear neighbour / friend and I looked after him daily . I'm on Prince George and my number is 519-777-3506 . Praying for all of you 🙏

I had the priviledge of meeting Kathy years ago at Westpark Church. We were in a small group together for Ladies' Bible Study. She was always very kind and engaging with her warm smile. Praying the Lord would bring comfort and peace to the dear family she has left behind. I'm glad they have the blessed assurance of knowing that she is in the arms of her Saviour even though they will no doubt feel the sting of this tragic loss...until they meet again.
