Helena Van Luyk
May 29, 2017
At home, with her family by her side, Leny Van Luyk, in her 82nd year, passed peacefully on May 29, 2017. Beloved wife for 60 years of Art Van Luyk. Loving mother of Mya Kitts (Van Luyk), Diana Vestering (Gary), Nancy Joyal (the late Rick) and Wendy Van Luyk. Cherished Oma of Casey, Adrian (Tara), Madeleine (Nick), David and Madison. Dearly missed by family in the Niagara region and in Holland, and by friends far and wide. Predeceased by her brothers Ben, Dick and Joop, and sister Ria. Leny and Art immigrated to Canada in 1957, created a loving family with four cherished daughters, and founded Van Luyk Greenhouses – a family-run business for 47 years. An avid knitter, card player, bowler, and amazing Mom and Oma, Leny will be greatly missed by all. Special thanks to the many healthcare providers for their care and support. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 31st from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, June 1st, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Leny are asked to consider the London Regional Cancer Program – “Pancreatic Cancer Fund #81-404-30”.

Remembering an aunt full of courage, strength, love, wisdom, beauty and so often of laughter. That is a gift our mothers gave us, the ability to laugh. I think I will always be able to hear Tante Leny's laughter. She will be missed. Wishing you all much strength in the time ahead.
