My Journey with Fred is the title of a journal I will someday write, It began in 1990He became my counselor, and an excellent one. at that, for years as he attempted, and succeeded, in changing my harsh and negative way of thinking and feeling about life. We went on to stay in touch by phone for many years until recently I was afforded a second live stint with him. Ironically , we had just discussed how we would wind down over the next year before ceasing the counseling for good. I felt badly that we never got to say goodbye but he knew how much his tireless, selfless work had meant to me.He said recently that I was finally, after all these years, establishing a relationship with myself. He was my counselor, mentor and best male friend these last 27 years.Sometimes I feel a hole missing within me these past days, but most of the time, I feel him in my heart .Then I know that he is truly walking with me. I will never forget him.

Dr. Meek met with me for a few months at the Rapids Family Clinic. He helped me immensely deal with my daughter and problems at work. He was a very nice, patient man. I will miss him.

My heart broke when i learned about the passing of Dr. Meek. I was his patient and over the past year he helped me a lot. He was tremendously kind, sincere and compassionate. His memory will always be in my heart. May His soul rest in peace and His family find the strength to bear this loss. Ameen.

I am so sorry to hear of the untimely death of Fred. I worked with him at the TVDSB. Fred was such a kind and gentle man who cared deeply for people and had a wonderful sense of humour. I remember his license plate on his car just said "BEING". A lovely man who truly lived in the moment. Laurie

Please accept my sincere sympathies. I worked with Fred for many years at the TVDSB, and was fortunate to have crossed paths with him occasionally in the past few years. He was such a kind and genuine person - and I appreciated not only the care he brought to his work, but also his sense of humour . Suzanne

I am sending out a heart felt "sorry" to the family of Dr. Meek. He was a great man and helped me a lot. I was a patient of his and just seen him last week. He will be truly missed by me.

I last spoke to Fred several years ago. It was a privilege to work with him at TVDSB at several locations. He and I shared a common set of values, and it was always a pleasure (and a relief) when he walked in the door. Comfort and strength to all of the family today and in the days ahead.

Dear Cam and Fiona: I am so sorry to learn this very sad news. As you know, I have always admired your dad. He was so helpful to me with many students at Ryerson and Pearson. I also admired him as the devoted father of two wonderful kids I had the pleasure of teaching. The world has lost a remarkable human being. His legacy of compassion and kindness will live on through his children.

With much love to family and friends- we send our condolences from SLCS. As the Executive Director of St. Leonard's Community Services, I had the pleasure of seeing Fred monthly to review our agency mission and vision at our Board meetings. He never wavered in his lens of humanity and respect for our clients. Fred was a wonderful kind soul that added a touch of wisdom when needed -he was soft spoken but, always had a thought on how to better meet the needs of our clients. He will be missed on our Board and personally by myself, as a champion for the work of our agency.

I had the distinct pleasure of working alongside Fred on the Board of Directors for St Leonard's Community Services for the last five years. He was one of the most kind, patient and peaceful people I have ever met. He was generous with his time and wise advice, which benefitted St Leonard's immensely. He will be sorely missed. I first met Fred when I was a summer intern at CPRI - he supervised my placement and I learned a great deal from him. Later we were colleagues at the school board and I continued to learn from his knowledge, wisdom and experience. Fred was kind, caring and always willing to give me the gift of his time.
