Went peacefully on Saturday October 7th, 2017 to be with his Lord and Savior, in his 93rd year. Loving husband to the late Edith Mary Brown (nee Smith) (2006). Loving father of Sandra Hastings (John), David Brown (Orlanda) and the late Nancy Callander-Mair (2017)(Ron) . Cherished Grandpa to Scott Hastings (Evelyn), Kevin Hastings (Daniela), Ian Callander (Amanda), and Heather Callander. He had a special love for his great-grandchildren, Daishane and Shanelle Colindres-Hastings, Angelica and Kevin-Joel Hastings, Paige and Ellie Callander. Pre-deceased by his son-in-law Robert Callander (1990), his brother Ron, sister Marian Jones, sister Marjorie Baker and his parents James and Gladys Brown (nee Smale). A special friend and grandpa to the Muzylowsky family. Thank you to Jacquie Williams-Hamilton for her expert compassionate care. Thank you to Parkwood Institute Veteran’s Care, his home for the past 4 ½ years, and to the many caring staff who tended to Don. Friends and family will be received on Friday, October 13th, 2017 at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Interment at Dorchester Union Cemetery. Those wishing to make a tribute donation in memory of Don are asked to consider St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation – Veteran’s Care program.

Sincere condolences on the loss of a true gentleman. It was a pleasure to reconnect with Don several years ago, and to visit with him at 353 Spruce Street. That house was designed and built for Don and Edie by my late father. Don will be greatly missed by his family and by all who knew him.
