June Marie Christie
June 20, 2019
A lover of animals, travel, browsing shops, a warm cup of tea, and a good joke. June left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and her passion for life’s simple pleasures. She fiercely and loyally loved all her family, friends, and pets. June’s wit and humor were legendary, taking great joy at people’s reaction to a well-timed joke. She never lost her youthful charm. She was generous, kind and selfless – simply because it was the right thing to do. In her younger years, June worked with pride at Somerville Industries before transitioning to her cherished role as an elementary school secretary at Prince Charles P.S. It was an honour to be known and loved by June, our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Now June is with her beloved Arthur and joyfully reunited with many cherished family members, friends, and four-legged children. June is predeceased by her parents, Murdoch and Edith McKinlay; her sister Irene; sisters and brothers-in-law: Shirley, Allan, Bill, Fred, Jack, Joyce, and Barb. Among those missing her are her daughter Linda Hodgkinson, her son-in-law Paul; her grandchildren Amie and Christopher; her nieces and nephews; and her pets Rici and Sophie. June peacefully exhaled her last breath with her daughter by her side on Thursday, June 20, 2019. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the staff at McGarrell Place Long Term Care Home and her beloved caregivers for their compassion and support. Visitors will be received on Sunday from 2:00 ~ 4:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where a funeral service will be conducted on Monday, June 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10:00 ~ 11:00 a.m. Those considering a donation are encouraged to support BREATHE the lung association, the Humane Society of London & Middlesex, or McGarrell Place – Residents Council Fund. June had a wonderful life: thank you to everyone who made it so.

I remember "Mrs. Christie" very fondly from my days at Prince Charles Public School, many years ago. She was always so cheerful and a greeting from her always put you in a better mood if you were feeling a bit glum on a lonely walk to the school office. She made a few of my days brighter when she knew I was feeling down. I am sad to learn of her passing. My condolences to Mrs. Christie's family.

We were saddened by the news of the passing of June, who was a wonderful woman. We met June when we were invited to spend family time with our long time friends Paul and Linda. We were included in Thankgiving dinners with June and Art Christie which was always a pleasure and a lot of fun. The stories she would tells us about Linda as a little girl were always enjoyable even though Linda did not think so. She will be missed but not forgotten. She will always be in your hearts and memories. Love Laura and Rick
