After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Jim died at home with his wife at his side, on the morning of Sunday, July 28th, 2019, at the age of 74. On Wednesday, July 24th he had just celebrated his 48th wedding anniversary with the love of his life, Janet. Born in Stratford, Ontario to Ben (1997) and Mildred (2008). Sadly, he was predeceased by his infant daughter, Victoria Jane, (1977). Jim is survived by his brother-in-law, David Morris (Brenda Johansen) of Scarborough, niece, Julia Morris (Carl Pratt) of Toronto, and nephew, Tom Morris of Oakville.
Jim was a wonderful man. Sentimental, kind and generous, he had a small intimate circle of close friends from Sarnia and London. He was also the kind of person who made strong and cherished bonds with people, whether childhood friends or people he met throughout his life. He will be missed by his beloved friends of the 43rd Rovers.
When the Sir Adam Beck Collegiate Alumni needed help organizing their reunion, Jim was happy to help co-chair and eventually took on the responsibility of meticulously maintaining the database and expanding the attributes of over 7000 records, which was key to their annual singing auditoriums.
Jim was a long-term employee at Bell Canada until he retired in 1997.
The level of care given by the many doctors and nurses at London Health Sciences Centre – Cancer Unit, Parkwood Institute’s Complex Care Unit, Saint Elizabeth Health Care and the Byron Family Medical Centre is deeply appreciated by the Cash and Morris families. Their dedication and compassion truly made a difference.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Dear Jan Prayers and fond memories are what we have to remember for our dearly departed Jim. Our heartfelt condolences. Just know that we are here for you always , just across the street. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if we can be of any help Neelam & Ashok
Jim and I were age-mates, and class-mates at Beck Collegiate. We worked together, from time to time, backstage in sound and lighting for various school productions under the direction of Fred Hickman, who was also our physics teacher. After graduating, we both went our separate ways in life and career. Happily, it was through the Beck singing auditoriums that we rejoined our friendship a few years ago once I had returned from 35 years in British Columbia. I am amazed at how many of my Beck friends became educators at various levels. Sometime exuded from our wonderful time there that caused so many to want to teach others, as we had been taught. I met Jan during an overnight stay at their house several singing auditoriums ago. She is a lovely lady and I extend my heartfelt condolences to her and family. Warm memories of Jim will long remain with me.
Jim and I met on a Telecom project in 2000 in London England and have remained friends ever since. I have fond memories of evening meals at our favourite pubs. Weekends we would explore the English countryside. Of course, Jim would be driving and you likely know he loved to test cars' limits. Years later, Jim sent my wife a letter with the salutation "Dear Cuz". How related are you if your relationship is from the 1500's? He had been doing genealogy research. As you know Jim liked to dig into things. He was a great asset to our London project because anything you were having problems with, you just gave it to Jim and he would wrestle it to the ground with a smile. Jenny and I will truly miss him.
Jan, I will always have good memories of early times on Severin Dr. when you and Jim were our neighbours. Our sincere condolences to you during this most difficult time. Love Gillian and Steve.
We are very sad to learn of Jim's passing. The Beck singing auditorium will not be the same without him. In April at Beck this year, the audience was treated to a tribute of all the amazing time and effort Jim put in to keep everything and everyone up to date. He was super dedicated. Sincere sympathy to his family and friends.
This condolence is late, but no less sincere. I am very sorry to read of JIM's passing... A great guy and giving human being. God bless JANET!

If there was a medal for hard work at keeping Beck's memory alive - it would go to Jim Cash. There might never have been a 2004 reunion if Jim had not accepted our challenge to be the leader. His setting up a master list of people attending Beck in a computer made it possible for us to send messages out of upcoming events and he made and worked the slides for the Singing Auditoriums. He also willingly gave his time filling in lots of other jobs and making suggestions and we were truly the receivers of all these gifts. I am blessed to have known Jim and work beside him for many years. I will miss him and I will salute his memory for many years to come. I am sure that Jim will be singing the school song and waving the green and white pompoms and will be waiting near the gate when Beckites continue their journey to the other side. Condolences to his family and friends.
