Joanna Maria (née Wydeven) Vanderloop

February 8, 2020

Passed away peacefully with family by her side, at Chartwell London Long Term Care Residence, on Saturday, February 8, 2020, at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late Martin Vanderloop (2011) for 58 years. Loving mother of Maria (Rod) Wensley, Jack (Vera), Henry (Kathy), Will (Sharon), John (Ann), and Jim (Dawn) Vanderloop. Adored Oma of: Carla Little, Tyler Lemkay (Collette), Lindsay (Joe), Lisa (Aaron), Pavlina, Andrea, Jenilee Turney (Charlie), Kaeleigh (Bryon), Michael (Brittany), Brent (Mel), Justin (Nicole), Shannon, Brittney (Jamie), Rachel, and 14 great-grandchildren: Andrew, Makayla, Jackson, Reanne, Eva, Alana, Analeigh, Niko, Sydnee, Ethan, Aline, Raelynn, Chloe, and Taylor. Survived by brother-in-law Leo Vandenberg. Predeceased by all of her six siblings. She will be sadly missed by her Wydeven and Vandenberg nieces and nephews, and her extended family in Holland. Joanna was known as Mom, Anne, Anna, and Joanne, but she was “Oma” to most. Whenever we said “Oma”, it was said with a smile. She was love. Joanna was always serving others; she held her family close and friends in regular contact. She and her husband Martin were together constantly for 58 years, and she missed him greatly the last few. She recently asked to “go down the hall” to be with him. Now, they are together and we can picture them as a couple again. Cremation has taken place. They will be placed together in a niche on their anniversary. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where a memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Thank you to the staff at Chartwell for their kind and compassionate care. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Joanna are asked to consider the Alzheimer Society London and Middlesex or the Chartwell London Long Term Care Residence – Recreation Program. (Please make cheques out to ‘Chartwell London Long Term Care Residence’, and in the notes section, write ‘Donations RE: Vanderloop, Recreation Program’)

Oma was kind, caring, genuine and warm. I have fond memories of the time I spent with her. She always focused the conversation around me, and what was happening in my life, never on her. She will be missed. Hugs to all the Vanderloops.
