We wish to express our deepest sympathy to Sylvia's family. For over twenty years I taught in Sylvia's History Department. Her dedication to History as a subject of study along with her interest in the welfare of her students was an inspiration to all who had the opportunity to know her. Sylvia spent her time wisely and lived her life well.
One of my all-time favourite teachers! I have great memories of her demonstrating the Charleston for our class and of recalling her lessons on WWII as I toured Normandy years later. I was also fortunate to have been a recipient of her kindness including rides to school on rainy or snowy days and extra homework help to feed my interest in history. My condolences to her family. She gave us so much!

My condolences to Sylvia's family. Sylvia taught me in high school. Later I taught with her. I have fond memories of her in both scenarios. Her sense of humor was subtle and sincere. She loved life and influenced many students and peers.
