Terezinha ‘Teresa’ Maria Demelo DaPonte

July 30, 2020

On Thursday, July 30, 2020, Teresa DaPonte (born May 15, 1950), affectionately known by friends and family as “Momma T” and as “Vavo Girl” to her loving grandchildren, passed away at home, with her loved ones by her side. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Urbano DaPonte; her children: John, Nevin (Amber), Urban, and Andie (Emily); her grandchildren: Ethan, Olivia, Oliver, Kaiden, and Willa; and the many family, friends and loved ones whose lives she touched and brightened with her love and presence. Her children and grandchildren were her absolute pride and joy. She loved them to infinity and beyond. Teresa is now reunited with her fellow lady bugs in heaven, including her mother Honorinda, father Manuel, granddaughter Maddi, goddaughter Brandie, and her canine pals Maggie, Mia and Stella. Teresa faced the world with positivity, eternal optimism, compassion, love and acceptance. She loved and protected her family and loved ones fiercely. She believed in facing life with fearlessness and living to the fullest. She embraced different cultures and world experiences; she loved her fellow humans, no matter their background or journey. She saw beauty and worth in everyone. She never stopped telling her family how much she loved them, even in her last days. May we all live life full of love, like Teresa did. If you knew Teresa and are reading this, you can be certain that she loved you, misses you, and looks forward to seeing you one day. Until we meet again. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where a funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery & Holy Family Chapel Mausoleum. It makes me so sad to hear of Teresa's passing. Condolences to all of her lovely family that she spoke of with pride all the time. My mom (Maria) and Teresa has the same endometrial cancer and they met at Chemo and instantly had a connection. My mom passed away a year and a half ago. I remember my mom always talking about the undeniable faith that Teresa had and how she admires the strength she drew from that faith. I'm sure they're having a glass of wine in heaven talking about how they can guide us from above. Keep that faith in mind as you grieve a wonderful woman. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
