Muriel was born on February 5, 1925 to Jessie and Bert Dartnell in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Her parents were committed to the Lord and raised their children with a strong sense of service and devotion, as seen in their mission work to unemployed men during the Great Depression and their iron foundry business. Muriel grew up in a home filled with fun and laughter, surrounded by 5 siblings (Frances, Clare, Eddie, Joan and Lois). She was fun-loving, outgoing, loved sports and had a strong competitive streak. After high school, she worked in her father’s firm as a secretary and met her husband Bob Street (son of Joseph and Susan) at the age of 16. She married him after he came back from the War on May 11, 1946 and then moved to Toronto. Muriel had three children (Sheldon, Gordon and Debbie) and was a stay at home mom through their ‘growing up’ years and also helped out in the family advertising business.
Both Muriel and Bob were very involved in the start-up and establishment of Parkway Bible Church in Scarborough, Ontario in 1959. Muriel served in Women’s Ministries serving the practical needs of the church community and sang in the choir.
She was often called on to use her gifts of hospitality as she and Bob entertained special speakers and missionaries who visited the church. She also hosted many church events at their house and had a flare for entertaining.
Muriel became a grandmother to 9 and great-grandmother to 17. They moved out of Toronto to Uxbridge for a ten-year period and then moved to London in 1997. She devoted the next 15 years, enjoying retirement with her husband and cared for him until he passed away in 2012. She persevered well through these last 8 years of her life, dealing with the limitations of Parkinson’s and the challenges of living in a long term care facility. She was well-loved by staff and the residents and was known for her kindness, generosity and her always full candy dish. (A big “thank you” to the staff of peopleCare Oakcrossing for the kindness and care they extended over all these years).
Muriel has passed on a legacy of loving faithful service, hard-work and perseverance. As we reflect on her life we are grateful for her love for her Lord, her love and care for those around her and for her prayers. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
“Be strong and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in the Lord.” Ps 31:24
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Gal 6:9

We were saddened to hear of the home going of Muriel. A dear friend to us when we were raising our family. Neighbours in Don Mills, business associate, and part of our church family for many years. She has gone to a better place. God Bless the Wilkins and Street family. you are in our prayers.
Gord, Heidi, Debbie, Ruth Please know that my thoughts are with you at this sad time. I do feel your loss. Pleasant memories of Muriel and Bob, and our family visits have been filtering through my mind. Take care of yourselves and stay strong.
Ruth, Gordon and Debbie, our thoughts are with you this weekend as you say a final goodbye to Muriel. Though we know she is in a better place that doesn't change the fact that there is a hole in your lives that cannot be filled by anyone else. We have many fond memories of weekends at Redwood, especially the 'dip and drip' (as I have dubbed the early morning swim that I used to enjoy with all the older crowd). God bless you all with peace and comfort as you walk through the next years of your lives.
Please accept my most sincere condolences at the passing your mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. It is beautiful to see how much love surrounded her throughout her life. Although I never met her, I have long known about Muriel since my father, Thomas (Bunny) Dartnell, was her first cousin. They were born in the same year. My father had many memories of Muriel and her siblings growing up in a very large extended Dartnell family in Winnipeg during the Great Depression. I have been working for many years on the Dartnell family history, which is rich and very diverse across several continents. I wish I could have shared this knowledge with her and would be very happy to share it with any of her family. Sincerely, Dr. Michael York Dartnell Toronto
Dear Deb and Family, I was so sad to read of Muriel's passing, her "home going" as one person beautifully put it. I absolutely loved your Mom and Grandmother and she loved you all. Through her eyes I learned a lot about many of you and myself sharing her wisdom. Attending her birthday party at the Home allowed me to put faces to some of you! I was honoured to have both Robert and Muriel as Clients when I first started at peopleCare. Seeing her was a highlight to my month as she would usually allow herself to have one Massage treatment. That didn't stop us from talking as often as my schedule permitted. I loved that third floor and it's dynamics. Due to CoVid I have not been back since @ this time last year. Her Tribute taught me even more of her passion for life, sharing values and talents at every opportunity. Your Grandparents certainly set a solid foundation and paved the way for all of you. We talked often of the Muskoka cottage too because my kids spent summers at Beacon Bible Camp near Torrence. We laughed a lot. She described her dreams in detail to me. One of my funniest memories was the day I poked my head in her room and with a mouth full of cookie she asked me if I wanted a bite!! There are certain people that for whatever reason we connect with on a deeper level and Muriel is one of those people for me. I will remember you. Nancy Gauld, peopleCare

I'm saddened by the news of your loss. Jan spoke so fondly of her last visit with Auntie Muriel early last year along with Debbie. May God bless your family as you feel losing her presence. A steady force of faith in your midst.
