Philip Varughese

September 24, 2020

In celebrating the life of Mr. Philip “Baby” Varughese, we are grateful that he was a man who pursued God, greatly loved his family and friends and made many sacrifices in his life for others. After graduating from St. John’s High School in Eraviperoor, India, Philip completed the Nursing Program at Philadelphia Hospital in Ambala, India. He married Susie in 1963 and they came to Canada in 1968 with their son, Shaji (Philip). They had two other children after coming to Canada: Shirley (Annie) and Shibu (John). Philip worked at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Toronto for 27 years before retiring in 1995. As a registered nurse, he was deeply committed to caring for others. In 2017, Philip and Susie moved from their home in Mississauga to London, where more time could be spent surrounded by family. He continued to enjoy his passion to help Susie with her cooking, for others to enjoy, and for him to relish. Philip’s contagious laughter and warm hugs always touched the hearts of all and he will be missed by his many family members and friends from across the globe. Philip is survived by Susie, his beloved wife of 57 years; his son John; his son Shaji, and daughter-in-law Nita (Mary), and their children: Stephen and Stephany; his daughter Shirley, and son-in-law Ajit, and their children:  Bethany, Emily and Tom.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28, 2020 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL,  709 Wonderland Road North, London. Registration is required to attend the visitation.
