Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ (née Lamberta Vermeulen) Hoevenaars

December 5, 2020

June 24, 1931 – December 5, 2020

On Saturday, December 5th, 2020, with family at her bedside, Elizabeth joined her Lord and Saviour and was reunited with her beloved husband, Adrian (2000) and daughter Josie (2009). Loving mother of John, of Tiverton, Mary-Anne van der Walle (Hans), of London, and Janet Butts (Erick), of Komoka. Loving Oma of Brandon, Nicky, Melissa, Justin, Robert, Jennifer, Albert, Janelle, and Melinda; and ten beautiful great-grandchildren. Greatly beloved sister and aunt of her extended Vermeulen family in Holland. Elizabeth was adventurous, light-spirited, fun; a woman always filled with unconditional love. After immigrating from Holland to Canada with her husband in 1954, she came to greatly love Canada. In the 1960s, her work as a nurse in the St. Joseph’s Hospital delivery room and nursery was immensely enjoyed. She will live forever in our hearts as a sincere example of deep faith in God; great perseverance; ever steady resilience; tenacious loyalty; and love. Visitors will be received at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, Ontario on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. George Parish. Interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Registration is required to attend the visitation.

To register for the visitation, please click here: >Westview Funeral Chapel’s registration page for Betsy’s visitation

Please note: as per the directive of the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, attendance numbers will be restricted. Please be aware that COVID-19 protocols are in place which may preclude some from being able to attend and masks are mandatory. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ are asked to consider St. Joseph’s Hospice.
