Barbara Jean Dias
December 7, 2020
Suddenly at home on Monday, December 7, 2020, at the age of 77. She will be deeply missed by her husband Anthony ‘Tony’, of 40 years. Cherished mother of Tasha Hill, Danielle Urquhart (Brian), Gillian Dias, Nicole Haggerty (Scott), Reneé Riley (Kevin) and Giselle Dias. Proud Grandma of Tayo Beernink, Ashley Tyler-Smith (Jake), Kyla Urquhart, Taygen Fisher (Cody), Jessica Evans, Anthony Urquhart (Jacqueline), Devon Urquhart (Brennan), Jack Haggerty and Nathan Riley. Proud great-grandmother of Noah, Nevaeh, Mason, Adler, Emmett, Lilly and Lucas. Predeceased by her late daughter, Michelle Dias (2011). Barb’s life was defined by her compassion and her deep wellspring of love. She had a long and well-loved career as a nurse, and later as a palliative care nurse, where she used her many gifts as a kind, compassionate, and comforting presence. Seeing the Stedman Community Hospice launched and successful in Brantford was the pinnacle of her professional life. This accomplishment earned her the Mission Legacy Award from the Sisters of St. Joseph for her many contributions over the years, something for which she and we were immensely proud. Barb offered so much of herself to others, to her beloved husband and all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. We will miss her passion for living, generosity, kindness and love. Barb wove herself into the very fabric of our lives and we are forever enriched. She taught us well and will live on in each of us until the end of time. Visitors will be received at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, Ontario on Thursday, December 10, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. A private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. George Parish. From the first time I met Barb in the 1990's, she welcomed me with open arms. What a kind, generous, loving soul. I am truly heartbroken for all of the Dias family, The Urquhart family, and the family and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Dias. Barb truly made a difference in people's lives that will live on forever. Her generosity and kindness made the world a better place. Love to all and may she rest in beloved peace. All my love. I will be with you in spirit as you lay her to rest. â¤ï¸â¤ï¸â¤ï¸â¤ï¸â¤ï¸â¤ï¸â¤ï¸â¤ï¸
