Frank McKay Hastings

December 31, 2020

Passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener on Thursday, December 31, 2020 in his 96th year. Cherished husband of the late Norma Hastings (2020) for 68 years. Cherished father of Anne Bourne (Ed), Christopher Hastings (Wendy), and the late Cameron Hastings (2020). Proud Grandpa of Frank Bourne, Ella Bourne, Harry Bourne, Stephanie Hastings (Leon Tomlin), Jennifer Harris (John), Emily Hastings, Melissa Hastings (Steven Madsen), and Jason Hastings (Alex Mote). Loving Great-Grandpa of six great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends. Frank will be remembered as a family man who hosted many great parties. His sense of humour will be missed by all who knew him. Frank spent many hours golfing, curling and playing many hands of bridge. He was an avid woodworker, loved to garden and enjoyed a well-manicured lawn. Frank was a Canadian who served as a Royal Engineer with the Scottish in WWII; he was very proud of his service. Cremation has taken place. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, a celebration of life will take place at a later date, when a party that would make Frank proud can be held. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Frank are asked to consider the MS Society of Canada or a charity of choice.

The Hastings family at 1088 were a big part of the Hamilton's love for London Ontario. Frank, you just had to be with Norma and Cam. You are already missed. So glad I spoke on your 96th birthday on Christmas Day. I cherish all our conversations over the years since 1966. We shared so much.. even a snowblower. Anne Chris and all your remaining family will always still have friends. Even although I did not play bridge or euchre I did almost beat you at rummolie. Thank you Frank and Norma for being such great neighbours. Thank you for teaching Johnny and I how to play Bridge. He wasn't really interested at first but once we started playing he was hooked. I know he turned up at your door a number of times with a self dealt hand that he had no idea how to bid and you graciously helped him out. Thank you both for including us in numerous dinner parties, Norma was a good cook. Thank you Norma for inviting into your Bridge , i have met a number of lovely ladies through those groups. Thank you Frank for driving me to the train station so many times. I will think of you forever and love you both forever. Affectionately Chris

So sorry to Anne and her family on the passing of her father. I hope the sorrow of the moment can be offset by the loving memories of joy that you keep for your father. May Frank rest in peace, and God bless you and your family at this time of grieving.

I had the pleasure of working with Frank during his time at EY. He greeted me each morning he was there with a big smile and a funny story or joke. Frank was always interested to hear how my family was doing and loved to tell me all about his family. He was very much in love with his dear Norma and extremely proud of his children and their families. What a wonderful person, he will always have a special place in my heart. My condolences to his family and friends, take care.
