My dear Helen I pray that you find support and solace in the company of your family and friends. I just found out about Bob's illness and his passing came as a shock. Speaking from experience after recently losing the love of my life of 51 years, the memories you have of Bob will become a great source of peace. He was a wonderful husband and family man. His bubbly personality, fun-loving nature, gentleness, kindness, sense of humour, caring nature will be long be remembered. Your grief will lessen and eventually your over half century of happy and special memories will bring a smile to your face and a calmness to your life. Hope to see you soon. Cheers Gerry
Dear Helen Wow, it has been a very long time! The memories of you and Bob will last forever. The fun times. They were the good old days. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the families.

Dear Helen and Family, Don and I were saddened to see the flag at half -mast last Fri at Westhaven and when we inquired, it was a shock to hear of Bob's passing. It has been a pleasure to see you both over two decades as such a loving couple on the golf course and lately to have had a chance to play with you Helen, such a classy lady and great competitor. I hope the pain of loss and grief lessens for you and your family as you revisit all the wonderful times you have shared. Sincerely, Nancy and Don Grady
Tracey-So sorry to hear the news of your beloved father. I hope the special memories will bring you some comfort at this difficult time. I will keep you, John and your family in my thoughts and prayers. ~Tara
We were so sad to hear about the passing of Ashley's grandfather. We saw him daily at school pick up/drop off. Such a devoted grandfather and such a friendly man. He always said hi to our beautiful service dog, "Hi there Magic!" A small gesture but we will surely miss it and think of him. Condolences from our family.
So sad to hear of Bob's passing. He was one of the nicest people I ever met at the London Police Service. My deepest condolences to his family.

Helen, Tracey, John and Cathryn, Bob was very special to both Spence and I and he will be missed beyond words. His sense of humor, his good and bad shots on the golf course, and most importantly his friendship will top the list of what we will miss the most. We are so very thankful that we've had Bob as our friend for so many years. In time we will smile when we think of all the good times we shared together. You are in our thoughts and we pray his memory will be a blessing to you.
So sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was a lovely man. My condolences to the whole Hewerdine family.
I'm sad to hear about Bob's passing. He was one of my favourite Radio Sergeants. My sincere condolences to the Hewerdine family.
Bob was my Sergeant back in the late 80's. I had the utmost respect for his policing skills but more importantly his people skills. He was kind, compassionate and supportive to his people. I had a very serious family crisis whereby I needed some time off to be with family. A certain cold senior Inspector refused my request for time off. Bob went into his office and the story goes there was a huge shouting match that could be heard down the hall whereby Bob took on this Inspector and ultimately shouted louder! At the end of it, Bob secured the 3 days I needed which ultimately ended with the loss of that family member. I can't put into words how grateful I was and am for Bob, a Sergeant, taking on the Goliath Inspector, and enabling me to spend time with my family member during the last hours of their life. He knew what was right and would not back down. Thank you Sergeant Hewardine! Your brave good deed has never been forgotten! I salute you Sir! The world has lost a hero! Lino Prelazzi

I am so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. As a fellow LPS member I did not have the pleasure of working with Bob directly but certainly was aware of his reputation as a kind and competent leader. It was rare to never hear a bad word spoken of a fellow officer, particularly a supervisor in those days, but I never heard one bad word spoken of Bob. I hope his family takes comfort in the many good memories of a very good man. God bless
