Dear Arbing Family, I have so many memories of visiting your house on Rankin Street in Windsor. I remember Bill as a happy and affable person who loved his family and served his community as a police officer. He was funny, warm, kind, and caring. Bill truly was one of the most genuine people you could meet. I was very fortunate to share many golf games with Bill and when someone was standing over a birdie putt you could always count on Bill to say, " Come on make it!" I was fortunate to meet Bill at Robert Q's Airbus, it was immediately evident that Bill was a kind, genuine, caring person. His welcoming kindness came so naturally to him that immediately one felt an up lift in ones' day. The four of us became fast friends and every year Gary and I were thrilled that they were returning for their two month stay in Palm Coast. As we all know, Bill was truly a special man. He was warm, friendly,, fun, caring, kind, considerate and he knew how to address a serious situation without adding fuel. The world is a lonelier place without Bill. I remember playing slow pitch with Bill in Aylmer over 30 years ago. He would gently send the ball to the plate for half of the inning, and then pound the same ball out of the park in the next half. He was always a kind and inclusive teammate. Deepest condolences. Don Marcou

I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Bill through Lexus of London. Bill stood tall not just in height but in character. A positive, kind and caring man. Bill would assist as a chase driver when I was on delivery to a guests home out of town always a professional. He would talk fondly of family, golf, travelling to Florida with a zest for life. Bill Arbing (Uncle Bill) will be sadly missed by our family. We always looked forward to our visits and will truly miss his kindness, sense of humour and all the great stories he would share with us. We had the honour of having him as master of ceremonies at our wedding and, needless to say, he did an amazing job. There were many golf games over the years with the family that we often reminisce about, especially the weekly twilight games with my mom and dad (Jerry and Mag) at Cresthaven and the family tournaments in Little Britain. Also being part of the police services, Bill was always there as a mentor to provide guidance that was greatly appreciated. He excelled at everything he did and always managed to make friends along the way. Most importantly, he was an amazing husband, father, grandad and uncle and we are all better people because of him.

Uncle Bill and Aunt Lynn and Jeff lived next door to gram and pip when I was young, growing up in Windsor. It meant a lot to me having him in my life. My sincerest condolences to the Arbing family. Seeing Bill at the dealership always put a smile on my face. I remember the time my sister and I had Bill take us to the airport for a trip and chatting with him about his career, travels, family, etc. He even picked up our friend from the airport when they came to visit from Australia a few February's ago during a -20 cold snap. Bill made such an impression on our friend and his warm welcome to Canada. He spoke so highly of his family and was so genuine. I know everyone will miss his cheerful and positive energy and know anyone who had the pleasure of meeting Bill will remember that. My thoughts and sympathies are with the Arbing family.

How ironic life is when yet again a few short days ago a person comes into your mind. You wonder how they are: where they are? You are then updated in this fashion. What words can fill that immediate void? Yes, condolences and sympathy are offered. It has been almost three decades since I had any involvement after meeting Bill during my secondment to O.P.P. Headquarters during Bill's time with the Ministry of The Solicitor General. Time leaves acknowledging the profound respect and admiration for the man during and after that time. To Lynn and entire Arbing family In 1966, I was an 11 year old boy who wanted to play for the Detroit Tigers. I played for the Mustangs that summer, and Bill was my coach. He was there for the kids, and was respected by the entire team. Now.. I didn't make the Tigers, but Im not sure that that was Bill's fault. Lol I did however, become a 37 year police officer, so that has to count for something. Bill's life was not one wasted, and for this the family and friends must be so very proud. God speed. Working at Highland I had the good fortune of meeting many great people. None of those people however are more kind, gracious and genuine as Bill Arbing. Dear Lynn, Jeff and family, I was just talking with mom (Carol Deslippe) and she told me about dear Bill, I'm so sorry, I liked Mr Arbing so much! My parents Carol and Frank were such good friends and I was lucky to see and hear of the good times they had! I was thinking of the house on Rankin and the fireworks party at Lynn's moms and step-dad every year!!! So much fun to eat hot dogs and tell ghost stories and the high light, seeing the fireworks!! I respected and cared about Mr Arbing, to my sister and I he was a kind gentle giant! I hope all the memories of the good times give you peace, please know you are in my thoughts, take care!!!!!!

Our condolences. I knew Bill as one of the best Slopitch players in Aylmer with the Police College team in the 70s and 80s and when they folded we "lured" him to the Teachers team with a promise of only a good time and he was a joy to watch play and even more so a caring friend and gentleman. So many good memories for us and so many more I'm sure for his family. Thanks Bill.

We respectfully offer our heartfelt condolences to Bill's family. I (Phil) am truly honoured to have known Bill and I am deeply indebted to him. As a team leader, Bill hired me as a seconded officer at the Ontario Police College. His outstanding devotion, dedication, commitment, ethics and professionalism (hopefully) rubbed off on me during his excellent instruction, leadership, and skilled mentorship. Bill was both a true gentleman and a policeman's policeman. His intervention in my life resulted in not only a rewarding police career but 29 extra years of service within the walls of the Ontario Police College. Thank you, Bill - for a great "gig". Lynn and the entire Arbying family. For those of us who met or worked with Bill you met the consummate gentlteman. During our lifetime if we're lucky we meet maybe one true gentleman and that was Bill Arbying. Bill gave me some invaluable advice while at the Windsor Police Service which helped shape my career. I know without his wise consul my career may have gone in a different direction. I know he had the same affect on many others. My dad always said the integrity of a man can be felt in his handshake! Bill had a wonderful strong handshake, so I knew the first time I met him he was one of the good guys....I never really had the opportunity to get to know Bill on a personal level, but I did see him over the years at Highland Country Club. I knew Bill as a co-worker at the Ontario Police College. His contributions to police training were enormous. He shared his many policing skills with students from throughout the Province all eager to learn from his many experiences as an officer in Windsor. He was the real deal and was a favourite among College students who were fortunate to be groomed by him.

Bill will be sorely missed at the golf course. He was always so friendly, supportive and positive. A great guy. Rest In Peace.

Bill was one of my Sergeants while employed by the Windsor Police Department during the 70's. We trained together on Windsor's first Tac Team (SWAT). He was great to be around and always fair. Over the years I have heard of his love of golf and was looking forward to the day we would hit the course together. Rest In Peace dear brother you will be greatly .missed.

I have known and respected many fine men during my many years. Few, if any, were the equal of Bill Arbing. Bill was a man of rock-solid integrity, the highest of ethical standards, the consummate professional during his multi-faceted career beginning with the Windsor Police Service, and Bill possessed a love and dedication to and for his family which included all who were in his extended family, Other than being in his home, Bill could be found on a golf course, almost a second home for Bill and he was one fine golfer. Thanksgiving and Christmas were special times for the Arbing family. My wife Heather, one of Bill's sisters and I were welcomed into his home on those occasions and those wonderful times will be etched in my memory. Bill was a man whose greatness was his goodness. We have lost a giant of a man but wonderful memories of Bill will provide comfort at this sad time.

I worked with Bill for many years at one of the dealerships he delivered cars for. I always enjoyed our conversation about his wife, children and family. He was so incredibly kind and thoughtful. Bill will be greatly missed. My prayers are with his friends and family.

I am so deeply saddened to hear of Bill's passing. He was one of the kindest, most gentle souls I have ever known.
