Konstantinos ‘Gus’ Nouragas

February 2, 1943 - October 12, 2021

February 2, 1943 – October 12, 2021

Konstantinos (Gus) Nouragas, 78, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, surrounded by his family at McGarrell Place, London. Konstantinos Nouragas was born in his beloved village of Velvendo (Kozani), the fourth of five children. He is predeceased by his parents, Antonios and Vaia Nouragas. Kosta is also predeceased by his two older siblings, Chrysanthi and Demetrios, and survived by his brothers, Thomas of Velvendo, Greece and Panayiotis (Mary) of London, Ontario. His devotion to family, friends, and patrida began when he was young in Velvendo, leaving home at 18 to proudly serve in the Greek army on the island of Kefallonia, where he met his future wife, Antonia (née Christodoulatos). He came to Canada in 1969, to marry and begin his family in London, Ontario. He was a loving and strong family man, who was blessed with two children; son, Tony, daughter Yula (Christos); and three grandchildren, Panayioti, Georgia, and Athan, who loved him dearly. His firm commitment to making a better life by serving his family guided his sense of industriousness, as Kosta was a smart businessman who founded and developed a successful family-run restaurant business in Petrolia, Ontario for 16 years. In his retirement, Kosta enjoyed spending time with friends and family, particularly adored his grandchildren, and had a heartfelt yearning to travel to see his beloved horio every chance he had. Kosta will be missed dearly by his many nieces, nephews, family members in London and in Greece, and beloved family friends. A visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 5:00–8:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 131 Southdale Road West, London, with an interment service to follow at Woodland Cemetery, 493 Springbank Drive.
