Robert Murray Carson

November 7, 2021

It is with great sadness we announce the death of Robert Murray Carson, at University Hospital, on Sunday, November 7, 2021, after a lengthy illness.

Robert was born in Ayr, Scotland on March 5, 1932. He received his education at Ayr Academy and graduated from The University of Edinburgh in Public Health. He sailed to Canada in his early twenties, arriving and working in Toronto.

Returning to Scotland on holiday in 1957, he met Elizabeth Healy Crorkan. They married in 1958 and had four children. Robert will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Elizabeth; his children: Fiona Anne (David), David Murray (Jillian), Sheila Elizabeth (Paul), Ian Peter (Anya); and his daughter-in-law, Katherine. Cherished by 10 grandchildren: Peter, Rebecca, Kathleen, Jane, Hillary, Sean, Benjamin, Carson, Ella, and James; and one great-granddaughter, “Bobbie” named for Robert.

Extensive work travel within Ontario included cities and small towns across the province, ending with a move to London, working for the local health unit. Robert, in his many roles, cared greatly for his staff and students. His final role was as Director of Environmental Health for London-Middlesex.

Before and after retirement, Robert and Elizabeth travelled across Canada and the U.S., Scotland, England, and Chile, settling finally in Byron, Ontario.

Cremation has taken place. A public memorial is not planned. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Robert to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
