Passed away at home, on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. Loving husband of Heidi for over 65 years. Adored brother-in-law of Elizabeth Schilhan. Cherished uncle of Heidi Zimmer. Armin will be deeply missed by many nieces and nephews in Austria. He was a devoted winemaker, both as a hobby and throughout his professional career. He won awards for his impressive wines at the Western Fair. Armin also loved his garden and taking rides in the country with his wife, Heidi. The family would like to acknowledge the many neighbours, especially Paul and Mike, for their support throughout Armin’s final years. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Armin are asked to consider the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or a charity of your choice.

We remember Armin as a kind and wonderful person, we liked him very much! Wir sind mit unseren Gedanken bei Tante Heidi und bei Tante Lisa sowie Heidi Zimmer und danken v.a. Heidi Zimmer für ihre Fürsorge und Organisation der Begräbnisfeierlichkeiten. Lieber Onkel Armin! Zuallererst bedankt sich mein Kinderherz für die zauberhaften Momente am Hl. Abend, wenn die Geschenkspackerl unterm Christbaum geöffnet wurden. Das Christkind aus Kanada war immer so großzügig! In summer 1973 you proudly took your nieces - Heidi and me - teenagers then for rides in your big car in London Ontario as to initiate us to the "American way of life". This started with Mc Donald´s and ended with huge steaks at BBQs in the garden, you the chef and Aunt Heidi completing the big meals with wonderful side dishes. Later - already married with Günther- we both enjoyed your hospitality and generosity throughout several summers. Lieber Onkel Armin, du warst deiner neuen Heimat Kanada stets dankbar, dort mit deiner Frau Heidi Aufnahme gefunden zu haben, bliebst aber deiner alten Heimat, dem südsteirischen Weinland, insbesonders Leutschach, im Herzen verbunden. Your passion for "winemaking" (which would have originally been your career ) never ceased. In dir fand deine dich innig liebende Frau Heidi Stütze und Halt. Armin was a wonderful family friend and neighbour for decades. He was always so willing to share his many skills and talents to help with projects that would overwhelm the average person and took great pride in his commendable work ethic. He was indeed a man of great substance, and it was an honour to have been his close friend and neighbour. My deepest condolences are extended to the family at this time.
With sadness in my heart I have to say goodbye to a dear and wonderful friend over the last 40 years, my late Husband Franzl and I shared many good times together which I will always keep dear to my heart ? Rest In Peace Your Friend Martha Lisa and Heidi my deepest sympathy to the loss of your beloved Armin. With Love and Friendship Martha

Armin was friends with my father, and I was always happy to see him when I was in town and our paths crossed. I would often overhear the two of them in the living room having coffee or tea and enthusiastically discussing various topics of the day. It was clear to me that he was a kind and caring person, and a very good friend to my Dad. He will be missed.
