Elisabeth ‘Betty’ Van Meyl
February 28, 2022
Peacefully at home with her family by her side, on Monday, February 28, 2022, Betty Van Meyl of London, in her 106th year. Betty was born in Eindhoven, Strijp, Netherlands, on January 16, 1917. In December 1956 she immigrated to Canada with her husband, Hubert and daughters Helena and Ann, settling in London. Betty enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, rug hooking and sewing and would get great pleasure in presenting a gift of her new creation. In her later years, although Betty had dementia, she had an ability to recall in great detail people, places and situations of the past, to the point that people were astonished at her knowledge. Betty will be missed by many but what a reunion it will have been! Beloved wife of the late Hubert. Cherished mother of Helena (predeceased) and Ann. Dear aunt of Elisabeth (Piet) van Roosmalen, Corry Van der Heijden, Odelia Vitten and Leni Meijer. Dear friend of Joy, Cyril, Damian, and Robert Petersen. Predeceased by nephews Frans and Leendert Van der Heijden. In keeping with Betty’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Betty are asked to consider Solitudes Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, P.O. Box 29, Kearney, Ontario, P0A 1M0.

Lieve tante Betsie! Leni
I would like to say love you and my condolences to Ann, your mom was a wonderful woman and friend, I met Betsy when I got a job working with Comcare, I was sent to her house to take care of her not knowing what a beautiful friendship I have built with her and her daughter Ann. I loved the stories she told me about the war and her time in Holland, which I was living before I came back to Canada. Where I am living now, she was so upset about me leaving, and so was I. We kept in contact through the phone wished each other happy birthday’s. Betsy I will miss your calls, thank you for being in my life. Rest In Peace my friend ❤️😘
