Randolph ‘Randy’ Badiuk

April 1, 2022

At home after a courageous battle with cancer, on Friday, April 1, 2022, Randy Badiuk of London, passed peacefully in his 64th year. Beloved husband of Elaine, cherished father of Scott, Stacey Fakir (Hatim), and loving Papa of Ali and Norah. Dear brother of Lynda Baiano (Mike) and Susan Bierbaum (Bernie) and predeceased by his parents Olga and George. Randy was dedicated to his work and family and lived his life with a great sense of humour. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who might need it. He worked in the transportation industry for over 30 years before starting his own consulting business 8 years ago. He loved his life and often said how lucky he was to have had such a wonderful life, with no regrets. He felt blessed to have a supportive group of friends who were always lifting his spirits with messages and, of course, an endless supply of jokes. The family would like to thank his family and friends, Dr. Ott, Dr. Tsvetkova, Dr. Hamilton and their teams, as well as St. Elizabeth Nursing (Rob and Megan) for their compassion and care. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at West Bothwell Cemetery at a later date. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Randy are asked to consider Wellspring London and Region.

To Randy's family: I could try to deliver one of Randy's groaners, and tell you that he was like a farmer among transportation safety professionals - outstanding in his field! But our relationship went far beyond his jokes. On the good days, Randy was a self-less mentor willing to help me and many others become better (excluding the time he dragged be around bars in Halifax or convinced me Red Bull and Goldschlager was a health tonic). And on my worst day, without warning, he drove hours to be by my side and support me. We have all lost a great man, but know he was loved and admired by many people and will not be forget.

~ John Kellie

Elaine, Scott and Stacey, we were shocked and saddened to hear of Randy’s passing. Sending our heartfelt condolences to you family. He will be missed.

Your Marsh family will miss you and I will miss you. You were a true gentleman, and an amazing person. Your terrible jokes, your love for your family and your care for others left a special footprint on many hearts. I hope you and Allan get to take in a game in heaven. From Halifax to Barbados, your loss is felt. My sincere condolences for your family who we all feel we know from your proud stories. Until we meet again.

~ Mary Lynch

So sad to read this today. Randy was a true friend. He was of incredible help to me when I was starting out in my business and we had lots of good conversation. He was so knowledgeable and always willing to share knowledge to mutual benefit. We spent far more time discussing work issues than other things but he was one of the nicest people I've had the pleasure to have known. We did get to take in a couple of ball games in Toronto and as much as he was interesting he always took genuine interest in others. We have all lost something. My condolences to his family who lost the most. I hope you have many happy memories of him as I always will

~ Mike Aston

Elaine, Scott, and Stacey.....Today our hearts are broken...His memories will truly live on forever within all who knew him... from the time on the ice in our little town of Bothwell coaching our young sons together...to the absolutely countless Tim Hortons coffee meeting all over the country.....many a late-night serious spill conversation...and ohhhhh how many times we jabbed each other on how the Leafs and Wings were taking the Stanley cup this year....our Saturday nights in Toronto......many a cross border visit to Comerica...We saw the last game played at Tiger Stadium....several great nights enjoying the local Knights games here in London.....from our Florida condo trips....to our Sunday afternoon football games in Buffalo, or our Superbowl parties in his basement...Randy was often called the "bus driver" solely because it was his pleasure to make sure everyone was safe and taken care of...he truly left an unforgettable impression on everyone that crossed his path....Farewell, my friend....safe travels......

~ Paul Doub

~ Tony & Nora Van Gorp

We will all miss Randy. He was always concerned about the well being of the people around him. The consistent one liners and long stories was what made him Randy. You know he wanted to be a doctor..... but he had no patience. He was always the first to throw his jacket on a puddle or give up his seat for anyone else. I will miss you my Brutha

~ Paul Hamilton

My sincere condolences to the Badiuk family. I will always remember when I worked at the blueberry farm in high school, Randy called in the peak of winter and pretended to be a customer wanting to come and pick some blueberries. He was very committed to the joke. Having grown up with Stacey, I know he was a really kind, funny person and an awesome dad. I will be thinking of all of you.

~ Candice Kish

I am incredibly sad at losing Randy .... a " friend for life" . Over our many years of friendship, our golf group have been regaled by Randy's telling of the "never ending " story with the "groaner " ending. It would start out like a real story and then about half way through , the light would come on as we waited for the inevitable "shake your head " ending. Strangely..... we never recounted the day's golf shots when having a refreshment and dinner after. The golf did not matter ,....the laughter on the golf course and off the golf course is all that mattered. We often marvelled at how he seemed to know every road we ever drove on with so much detail that made us think that he drove that same road every day. Golf was never that important to any of us , but was truly the vehicle that framed the friendship of a lifetime. OMG Randy we miss you so badly ....... RIP my friend

~ Keith Trussler

To Randy's family; I was so sad to hear of Randy's passing. I always looked forward to his annual visit to Dartmouth for training and to spend the week playing a game I liked to call.. is it a joke, or is it a real story. I could never tell until the punchline. (Every trip I'd threaten to make him a sign to hold up when he was telling a true story ). He was such a kind and funny man and a true gentleman. His memory will live on with more people than you realize. Sending thoughts to all of you during this hard time. He will be missed by all of us at ECRC!

~ Janet Wilson

My deepest sympathies to the Badiuk family on the loss of your husband, father and grandfather. I had the pleasure of getting to know Randy through a mutual work assignment a couple of years ago. We have lost a good man in the physical world, but I do believe his beautiful soul is entertaining the heavens with his groaner pun jokes. Heaven and earth will never be the same! My sincere condolences for your loss. Dorothy Wade

I was very saddened to learn of Randy's passing. He was one of the kindest most sincere humans I have had the pleasure of knowing. I knew Randy through work and always looked forward to our Monday morning meetings where he was sure to deliver a groaner from his library of dry humor jokes. Even though he was a contractor, we always regarded him as a member of our team and afforded him all the respect a gentleman of his caliber deserved. My sincere condolences to his family. Know that he was very proud and spoke of you all often. RIP Randy until we meet again.
