Almond ‘Al’ Oreen Barrett
June 5, 2022
Peacefully passed away at home on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at the age of 81. He was the son of Ralph and Inez (née Lemry) Barrett. Survived by wife Carol (née Schaller) Barrett; daughter Nicole Dianne (Robert) Chepil; step-daughters Carey Schroyer (Edward Schackle), and Amy Schroyer, grandchildren Margaret Barry and Calvin Barry; brothers Roland (Carol) Barrett, Arnold (Joan) Barrett, sister Thelma Verbeke (the late Arnold); and fondly remembered by nieces and nephews Sheldon, Jason, Shonna, Norman, Tanya, Christine, Eddie and great-nephew Isaac.
Al graduated from Quill Lake High School in 1959 and attended the University of Saskatchewan where he earned certifications in business administration. After graduation, he worked at Smith Roles as a Project Manager in Saskatoon, SK. He then went to SED Systems in Saskatoon, where he developed his love of travel and was able to use his creative talent in the development of patents. In 1984 he married Carol and opened his business, VR London Inc. in London, Ontario, where he and Carol have resided since.
As a very creative person, Al was never happier than when he was working on a project, whether it was renovating his home, building a deck, creating metal sculptures, drawing, sketching, and photographing his daughters’ weddings and his many travels.

Sending thoughts and prayers to all of you. Even though I only met with Oreen a few times he always left a good lasting impression. His sense of humour was contagious. Take care to all of you.
