Stella Moretti

August 30, 2022

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Stella (Stellina) Moretti on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. Beloved wife of Vito for 64 years. Dearly loved by her children Michael (Margie), Nico (Belinda), Frank (Whitney), Teresa Moran (Patrick). Loving mother-in-law to Rennie. Cherished Nonna to her grandchildren Nico, Celeste, Demi, Mikaela, Olivia, Natalie, Charlotte, Luke and Kate. Beloved sister of Giuseppe Romita (Grazia) of Modugno, Italy. Predeceased by her parents, Domenico and Elvira Romita, her brothers Franco and Vincenzo and her sisters Maria and Antonietta. Zia Stellina will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy.

After marrying in Bari, Italy, Stella and Vito immigrated to London, Ontario in 1958 where she devoted her life to lovingly and selflessly raising her four children. A woman of elegance and compassion, Stella treated all whom she met with kindness and utmost respect. Nothing made Stella happier than to have a table surrounded with her beloved grandchildren and family, where her daily focaccias and incredible Italian cooking fed and nourished not only them, but also many a friend who may have ventured into her kitchen sanctuary.

Stella’s heart spilled over with love which she showered upon not only her own family but to many whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed but will shine forever brightly amongst the stars!

Visitation will take place on Friday, September 2, 2022 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Westview Funeral Chapel (709 Wonderland Road North, London). Funeral Service will take place at Westview Funeral Chapel on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Private family interment to follow.

Stella Moretti is the true definition of one beautiful woman! Her heart and soul radiated to others. I was truly privileged and blessed to have had her take care of my daughter years ago. I’m happy to say she treated her as her very own. Her love for her family was truly present in all that she did. Your family will certainly miss you, but you’ll be in their hearts forever! I know you will continue to surround them with your love every day. ♥️🙏🏻😇

Comare Stellina , thank you for always treating me in a special way over the past years when I would visit you, always making sure that the foccaccia was ready (just like my bella Mamma would make) and waiting with a coffee and a sweet treat. Thank you for always being you and never changing.. An angel in Heaven, Riposa in Pace Comare and say hello to i miei. Maria D'Oria

Deepest condoglianze to all the Moretti Family. It has been my distinct honor and pleasure to have known the Moretti family all of my life. When my father first came to Canada, Compare Vito , and Comare Stellina were one of the first italians he met and they soon became good friends, enough so to become my sister's Godparents. At the time, my parents and sister did not live far from the famous Vito's cave and so my dad worked there for a bit as well. Through the years, our families intermixed on many different occassions from beach days to weddings, to puglia festivals as our families came from the same area in Italy and this was amazing as there were not many in London at the time, and the friendship never failed. We had great admiration and respect for each other right up to and including the day God came to take Comare Stellina away. This is a very sad day as Comare was a loving, kind, compassionate and beautiful woman whom was loved by all who knew her. Heaven has received another angel. Maria & Tony D'Oria
