Barry Deryck Clute
May 11, 2025
In loving memory of Barry Deryck Clute, born July 12, 1940 in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Barry passed away at McCormick Home with family by his side on Sunday, May 11, 2025, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Beloved husband and cherished soulmate of Patricia Lois Clute for 22 wonderful years, loving father to David Mark Clute (Karen) and Christopher Michael Clute. Predeceased by his mother Margaret (née Pogue), father Deryck , sister Laureen Hunter, and previous spouse Carole Anne (mother of David and Christopher).
Barry was known as a man of many interests and talents. From an early age, he sought out mentors to help him become the best in everything he pursued, and he never settled for second best. He was an accomplished businessman, sailor, sporting clay shooter, musician, dog trainer, and horse trainer.
His accolades included his musical group Barry Clute and The Keynotes, which he did on the side for 10 years while working another job and raising a family. They played gigs at The Stork Club and various other venues in the area. He won the Canadian National Retriever Championships twice with his dog Drambuie, and he made the finals 9 out of 10 times at the All American Quarter Horse Congress with 3-year-olds that he trained in reining.
In the last 15 years Barry became very accomplished in Sporting Clay Shooting and would go to tournaments with his wife Patricia that took them across the southern U.S. states; Michigan, Ohio and Ontario. When his Parkinson’s prevented him from continuing on with shooting, Barry moved back to his roots of music and then pursued jazz guitar lessons.
Barry always said that everything has a beginning and an ending. He was someone that needed more than one lifetime, but was grateful for his wonderful life. Rest easy; you have earned it, Barry.
Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 709 Wonderland Road, North, London on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Dear Chris, Sending our deepest sympathy to you and your brother and family. May you find comfort in all the good memories and know that friends are here to support you.

Barry honey, I miss you more than I can say. I tried to prepare for it but it was impossible to know how much your loss would leave such an enormous hole in me. We sure had a great time together and oh the things you and I accomplished in this short time. You were my friend, mentor, confidant, lover, business partner and partner in crime. I am so proud to have spent the last 22 years of my life with you. I am forever changed by your positive influence and I am stronger than I ever knew I could be. Rest well sweetheart! Until we meet again. Love Patricia
A great loss of a man I always admired and respected. Not because he commanded respect but because he earned it. I owe him my career as a nurse. As my brother in law, he encouraged me and helped me to believe in myself and I will be forever grateful. Rest easy Barry, you've earned it ❤️
Take us fishing Dad, tell us how much fun we'll have, show us how to hold the rod tight, show us how to handle the fight, then let's go have some brunch, teach us how to handle a punch, tomorrow we'll go back to the stream, and you can tell us about your dream, your dream where we caught the big one, and how you did it with your sons, and when we meet again, on the side of the crystal stream, we will always remember your dream. Your Sons, David and Christopher
Please accept our deepest condolences for your loss. What a full and wonderful life Barry lived. Wishing you much peace and comfort.
I express my deepest sympathy in this time of grief. The Bible gives a comforting hope that your loved one will soon live again on a beautiful paradise earth when death will be no more in John 5:28, 29.
