Metro Szeryk
July 26, 2025
With deep love and gratitude for a life well-lived, the family of Metro Szeryk announces his peaceful passing on July 26, 2025. A devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, and a celebrated figure in the world of fast-pitch softball, Metro lived with integrity, a competitive spirit, and a gregarious nature that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Metro shared over 63 loving years with his wife Carol Jean Szeryk (née Pandke). Together, they raised sons Scott (Karen) and Neil (Karen), and later proudly watched their granddaughters Maddie (Nick) and Ellie (Martin) grow—moments that filled his heart with pride. He cherished his time on the pitching mound (inducted into the ASA National Softball Hall of Fame, Windsor Fastpitch Softball Hall of Fame and the Connecticut ASA Fast Pitch Hall of Fame), as well as his time playing cribbage with his brother in law Eric Pandke (Cindy).
A celebration of his life will be held on August 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. George’s Parish, 1164 Commissioners Rd. W., London. Reception to follow. Private family burial afterwards.
We would like to thank all of the 2nd floor staff at McCormick Home, who lovingly took care of him during the last year of his life. If you would like to donate in his name, please consider the McCormick Care Foundation. Online condolences maybe be shared by visiting www.westviewfuneralchapel.com

So sorry for loss Carol. Metro was always interesting to talk with about sports and his boys. RIP
I would like to pass my deepest sympathies to Scott and his family. I got to know Metro and Carol several years ago and believe they were both “salt of the earth” people. I enjoyed the interaction I had with Metro every time I had the opportunity to spend time with him. As with Carol, Metro will be sadly missed and they both have left a hole behind, hard to fill.
While it's been years since I've seen Metro, I'll always remember all the hours and days we spent renovating Scott's first house. He always had great stories, insights and advice to pass along, and I will always smile when I think of him. My heartfelt condolences to his family on your loss.
I worked with Metro for years at Union Gas and I loved to talk with him. He loved to talk about his family, and later on “brag” about his grand daughters and what great golfers they were. I know he loved to travel to watch them play golf. After we both retired, I would see him on occasion at Bob Martin’s Golf range and we would reminisce about our friends at Union Gas. He will be missed!

My sincere condolences to Metro’s family. I had the pleasure of working with Metro in the Sales Department at Union Gas. Always a gentleman, funny, caring and truly sincere. Metro and Carol lived next door to my sister and brother-in-law so I got to enjoy him on a personal level. Always a joy to be around. He was immensely proud of his family. His legacy will live on. His imprint on life will never be forgotten. RIP with your loving Carol!
