Michael John Kennedy
August 14, 1947 - August 1, 2025
On Friday, August 1st, Mike Kennedy passed away peacefully at home, after a brief yet courageous battle with cancer. Mike is survived by Sharryn, his loving wife of 53 years, his loving daughters Jennifer Kennedy, Jessica (Dave) Hamilton, his grandchildren Michael and Aiden Webster and Erin and Megan Hamilton, as well as his brothers, Ted (Elaine), Tom (Holly) and Jim (Carrie) Kennedy of North Bay. He will be missed by his nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
A dedicated teacher, coach and mentor for almost 30 years, the connections Mike made with his students and the impact he had on everyone he encountered, will not be forgotten. “Big Mike” will be remembered fondly anytime we have a butter tart, putter in the garden, hum along to the oldies or enjoy “a nice cold beer.”
Visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service on, Friday, August 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. A private interment to follow at Oakland Cemetery. I’m very sorry for your loss. Thinking of all of you and remembering how welcome he always made me feel at #81.
Big Mike, I did not get a chance to meet you in person, but my your daughter Jennifer is a dear friend of mine and she told me so many things about you. So, I know that you and your wife created a beautiful family and your daughters and grandchildren will carry on your legacy. Rest in peace
To Jessica and David and Family, My deepest sympathy on your loss. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Sincerely, RoseMary Cleary
Mike will be forever remembered for his generous heart, warm smile, and witty sense of humour. A dear life long friend to my father, Wayne, I listened to many amusing stories of their shenanigans taking place on the Chippewa playground in North Bay, on the hockey rink, and sharing an apartment while attending Western in London. Mike was always very supportive of our family as we grew up, and of me in particular while I attended Western in London. We enjoyed many great morning laughs when he graciously picked me up to go to my semester long teaching practicum at Saunders Secondary School, where Mike was a highly respected Science teacher. Mike was a wonderful man. I am so very truly sorry for your loss. Sending you all strength and hugs.
Our deepest condolences to the family. May his memory be eternal.

Cousin mike, always such good memories of being with you, although you were older than the rest of the cousins. Grandpa, I loved how you were always available to talk. I loved your wisdom and aphorisms. I loved being coached by you while running cross county and track and field. You had a great sense of humour and wonderful personality that I will miss. You were my amazing Grandpa. Love Michael
May your soul rest in peace. I will miss you teaching me about wood working. I loved building a wooden castle and art stand. I use the art stand the most. I will miss gardening with you and working out with you after school. I will miss you Grandpa! Love Aiden
