Albertus “Bert” Damen

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Albertus “Bert” Damen announces his peaceful passing on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at the age of 82, with family at his side. Son of Gerry and Gerarda Damen, with seven siblings: Betsy (2021) and her husband, Toby Grimminck; Mary and John Michiels; Anne and Harry Giesen (2025); Bernie and Tony VanRyswyk (2015); John (2016) and Carol Damen, Jerry and Kim Damen and Gerda and Jim Hunter. Bert will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
After learning the trade with his father, Bert worked professionally as a carpenter until his retirement. His passion was sharing his skills and talents with his family and assisting with many home projects throughout the years.
We wish to thank the caregivers, especially those at Ashwood, for making Bert’s life comfortable in the last years.
In keeping with Bert’s wishes, funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Westview Funeral Home, 709 Wonderland Rd., London. Cremation has taken place and a Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Holy Family Parish, 777 Valetta St., London at 10:00 a.m., with a reception to follow. A private family interment will be held at St. Peter’s Cemetery. If desired, please consider making a donation to Strathroy Hospice or a charity of your choice in memory of Bert.
