Patrick Craig Carron
August 15, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Patrick “Pat” Carron, who died suddenly at the age of 56 in London, Ontario. Pat was a beloved brother, a caring son, and a deeply courageous individual whose life, though marked by great struggle, was also defined by kindness, humour, resilience, and a fierce intelligence.
Born in 1968, Pat displayed many talents at a young age. A gifted child, he was known for his sharp wit, compassionate nature, and brilliance, particularly at the chessboard, where he was considered a young prodigy. Many long nights were spent in epic chess battles with his father, Bert, whom he often bested, much to everyone’s amazement. Pat’s gifts extended beyond academics and games; he was elected Student Council President at Catholic Central High School (CCH) in London, Ontario, a role in which he inspired those around him with his thoughtfulness and natural leadership.
In his early twenties, Pat was diagnosed with schizophrenia, a condition that profoundly shaped his life. Despite the challenges of living with a serious mental illness, he found joy in many aspects of his life. He was an avid sports fan, especially passionate about the Buffalo Bills’ rising success, and loyally endured the heartbreak that goes with being a Toronto Maple Leafs’ fan. Pat also enjoyed playing online poker and cherished the sense of freedom he felt while driving. Above all, he remained, throughout his life, the intelligent, kind, caring, and thoughtful person who those that loved him will always remember.
Pat never forgot a birthday, never asked for more than he needed, and never stopped being concerned for the well-being of others. He carried his burdens with a quiet dignity and grace that deeply moved those who knew him. To his family, he was the most courageous person they have ever known.
Pat was predeceased by his parents Lynne Fox (Don) and Bert Carron (Marcela). He will be lovingly missed by his siblings Wendy (Steve), Brett (Katherine), Chris (Megan), and Michelle, as well as his nieces and nephews Lucy, Anna, Will, and Brooks.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Pat’s life will be held on October 24th. Details and location will be confirmed at a later date. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Pat are invited to consider the London Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACT 1 Team), in care of St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation.
