Charles Nicholas “Nick” Henshaw

September 7, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Charles Nicholas Henshaw, who died of cardiac arrest at his home in London on Sunday, September 7, 2025.

Nick was the loving father of Rachel McPherson (Shawn) and Sarah (Rhonda Frazee), and he cherished the family he built with their mother, Patricia Green. He was the adored grandfather of Cole and Ethan McPherson and Sam Frazee. A beloved brother to Martha and a cherished uncle to his nieces and nephews. Nick was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Jane, and by his brothers, Gord and Tim.

Nick will be remembered for his warm heart, his quick wit, and his deep love for his family. A devoted father, he treasured time spent with his daughters, offering support, sharing laughter, and creating countless treasured memories. Nick led a full life —fishing, house boating, swimming, gardening, and enjoying music. Wherever he lived, he was an active member of his church community, singing in the choir, cooking for pancake breakfasts, and participating wholeheartedly in congregational life. He was also deeply dedicated to his work as a farmer and at Priestley Demolition.

Food was yet another way Nick expressed his love. Whether sharing the bounty of his garden, joining others at potlucks, or preparing meals ranging from simple school-night dinners to elaborate Christmas feasts, he found joy in nourishing those around him. He delighted in tasting new dishes, experimenting in the kitchen, and enjoying meals with others.

Never content to slow down, in his retirement Nick enjoyed fishing, wood turning and being part of the team at Clintar. Nothing, however, brought him more joy than spending time with his grandchildren, whom he loved to spoil at every opportunity.

A memorial service will be held at Westview Funeral Home, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at 3:00 p.m., with visitation prior from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Sarah, Rachel, It is with deep sadness that I learned of your dads' passing. He was a wonderful warm man, with a beautiful soul, and he will be greatly missed. I am flooded with fond memories of the farm on Scugog Island, whether it be Nick showing me the pigs or telling me where the best spot to hide the "treasure" was in the corn fields. We send hugs and warm fuzzies, hoping you find peace during this difficult time. Amy-Marie GARDIE (Fitchett) and all the Fitchetts

Met Nick for the first time in the early 1970s and we've been friends ever since. Nick was an outstanding employee at my farm machinery business for a time, until he decided to return to farming, much to my dismay. It was at his farm where I first met his two daughters, both young children at the time. In recent years Nick and I connected on social media, almost on a daily basis, which I will miss greatly. Rest well, old friend.

So sad to see him go. Uncle Nick taught me about working in the barn. Commitment to what you do. He helped me get one of my first real jobs when I was about 15... Painting and drywalling with a local crew in Port Perry. He weathered some tough times and seemed to be on the better side of it all. Apparently God had other plans. Rest in Peace, Uncle Nick <3
