Philomena Tong (née Foong)

With family by her side, Philomena passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice on September 28, 2025 in her 81st year. Beloved wife of the late Francis Tong (2025) for 63 years. Loving mother of Patricia, Pauline (Ian), and Peter (Michelle). Cherished grandmother of Natasha (Aaron), Christopher (Lowri), Felicia, Jonathan, Samantha, and Vivienne, and adoring great-grandmother. Dear sister of Charlie (Mary), the late Michael (Agnes), and the late Matthew (Rose).  Dear aunt of Christina, Christopher, Diana, Aaron, Angeline, Dennis, and Clament.

Philomena and Francis emigrated from Malaysia many years ago, staying connected with family across multiple continents throughout the years. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild brought endless joy to her life. She was an active member of her church and beloved by many throughout her 32 years at Swiss Chalet.

A visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Home, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish, 777 Valetta Street, London, on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are also invited to join a Celebration of Life reception in the All Saints Hall at Holy Family Parish following Mass.

The family would like to thank the amazing care teams in the Acute Stroke and Palliative units at University Hospital – LHSC. We would also like to thank the staff and volunteers at St. Joseph’s Hospice, who provided compassionate care and comfort during Philomena’s final journey.  Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Philomena are asked to consider St. Joseph’s Hospice.
