John Graham Shouldice

October 6, 2025

John Graham Shouldice, age 79, of London, Ontario, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on June 7, 1946, Graham spent most of his life in London, where he built a life centered on family, community and his passion for the outdoors. He served as the Superintendent at Highland Country Club for 35 years; a role in which he took great pride and through which he formed lasting friendships.

Graham was a kind and loving man who found joy in simple pleasures – golfing, going for walks, and most of all, watching his grandchildren play sports. His warmth and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda; his children Larin (Jana), Lori Congdon (Jason), and Scott (Eliina); and his cherished grandchildren, Reid, Cate, Brady, Erica, Koen and Shea. He is also survived by his brother, Bill (Margie).

Visitation will take place on Monday, October 13, 2025 at Westview Funeral Home, 709 Wonderland Road North, London from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be celebrated at Byron United Church, 420 Boler Road, London on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Woodland Cemetery, London. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Byron United Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada in honour of Graham’s memory.

Graham was our next-door neighbour for the past several years but so much more than just a next-door neighbor. He often said we were great neighbours and the feeling was definitely mutual. Anytime we stepped outside, and Graham was outside too, he would greet us with a friendly hello and catch up on the latest stories about his grandchildren or our children. Graham took a genuine interest in everyone he knew. He was always positive and quick to laugh and clearly a man of faith. Whenever he and Linda would go for a walk and we were outside, he would stop and chat. I believe he was the most well known and best loved guy in our neighbourhood. We enjoyed ping-pong matches with Graham in their basement, occasional get togethers and sharing stories with Graham (he even knew our kids’ friends names and their interests). He came out to watch our older son’s football. We will all miss his positivity and kind manner. The neighbourhood is not the same without him. And for our family the loss is magnified because we have no extended family in the city, and Graham was always there for us. He and Linda even took me to the emergency last year after an accident when I needed to get there quickly. The night before Graham went to the hospital, he and I were talking about watching “the two Bradys” play against each other in their upcoming school football game next week - I am confident he will be watching from Heaven. 🩷Cynthia for Steve, Cynthia Ryan, Cally & Brady Hellsten

Graham was honoured to be the groundskeeper at Highland, he was very proud of his accomplishments there. He was a friend to most people who played golf there and always had time to listen to a members comment in a respecful manner. Linda and family, life sometimes is not fair and I know you will miss him alot.

I am very sad to learn of Graham's passing. As a past member of Highland CC, I was part of a regular foursome with Graham. He made the game so much more enjoyable. Previously, I had written about Graham's career in Ontario Golf Magazine. We enjoyed much banter about the game. He will be a missed. Sincere condolences from me and my wife, Beth.
