Thomas Hopkins
October 15, 2025
Thomas Hopkins passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, in London, Ontario. One of Tom’s passions was photography, a passion that took him around the world. He captured breathtaking scenes of nature and life. He was incredibly proud of his work, but if you had the chance to talk to him, he would tell you how proud he was of his family.
Tom was a loving husband of Ruth, a supportive father of Tamra (John) and Steve (Krista), a witty grandfather of Josh (Andrea), Kiernan, Aidan and Eibhlis, and a kind older brother to his sisters Carolyn and Marilyn. His unique sense of humour will live on in all who laughed (or groaned) with him, and a “Hopkins shortcut” will always be the longer route.
Tom fully devoted himself to everything he did, including: the London Camera Club, Westview Baptist Church, Ilderton Curling Club, and many other hobbies and sports (playing the organ, singing in choirs and barbershop quartets, skiing, etc.). A 30-year employee of Bell Canada followed by 18 years at Sunningdale Golf and Country Club, he leaves a wide network of friends and colleagues throughout Toronto, Montreal and London.
We will miss him cheering us on and answering every phone call with a joke. We are so grateful for each moment we spent together.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at Westview Baptist Church Hall, at 1000 Wonderland Road South, London on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., with commemorative words shared at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, if you would like to honour Tom’s life, please consider a donation to Arts 4 All Kids (https://www.arts4allkids.ca/donate) or a charity of your choice.

Tom was always well liked within the London Camera Club. He provided us all with interesting stories during conversations while strolling on our many photo walks. He was a constant participant in activities at the club, always demonstrating a thoughtful, kind and sincere interest in others. My sincere sympathy to all his family members on losing such a truly grand person.
Tom and I joined the camera club in 2004 and immediately hit it off. After that first year we traveled together to Utah, New Mexico, and Florida. We always had great discussions about photography and he never missed a chance to tell me what was going on with Ruth, his children and all his grandchildren. I can imagine he will be greatly missed by his family. Tom was a very decent guy and I always enjoyed spending time with him. Condolences to the family and friends of Tom. I know he will be missed.

Deb and I knew Tom through the London Camera Club and photo tours we travelled on together. I wanted to let you know that you have my deepest sympathy, and my heart is truly saddened. May your memories give you strength at this difficult time.
We were deeply saddened to hear about Tom’s passing. He was always such a kind & friendly neighbour and we will miss him. Please know that we are thinking of you and sending comfort and strength.

Saddened this morning to hear of Tom's passing. My condolences to all of the Hopkins family. Photography travel excursions with Tom were always great fun. His kindness and humour will be missed.
My sincere condolences to the entire family - Tom and Ruth were friends for over 50 years. My wife Ilene and I enjoyed many world travels with them, as Tom and I were both avid photographers. We spoke weekly for the past several years - I will miss those calls. Heartfelt sympathy to all of you.
My deepest condolences Steve and Family. I’m so sorry for your loss. May the memories of your time together bring you peace and comfort in time.
Steve, Tamara and families ~ although there are no words that ease the pain of this loss, it is my hope that your many happy memories will, in time, provide you comfort. My thoughts are with you all as you honour his memory and blessings.

Tamara, Steve & families, So very sorry to hear of your dad's passing. Glad I was able to chat with him at the ball park just a few weeks ago. Always enjoyed catching up & talking "Bell talk". Thinking our dad's are enjoying heavenly coffee chats regularly. Thinking of you all, and your mom. Hugs

I was very sad to hear for Tom's passing. He was a great 1st cousin. We used to visit and keep in touch via email and phone calls. I admired his love of photography and his zest for life. We used to laugh about the fact that his wife Ruth has the same name as I do. When we were children all the cousins were invited to my Aunt Mercia's home for Christmas celebrations. I send my sincere sympathy to his children Tamara and Stephen and his grandchildren.
