Kent Jeffrey Guy

December 7, 2025

Kent Jeffrey Guy, peacefully and with immense love surrounding him, passed away after a brief and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 56. With family and his closest friends by his side, Kent left this world as he lived in it—deeply loved, profoundly respected, and forever cherished.

Kent was adored by the light of his life, his daughter McKenna, who remained by his side through every step of his journey. Their extraordinary bond was a source of unwavering strength and comfort for them both, and their love will continue to shine brightly in all the lives touched by Kent.

Kent is survived by his devoted mother Doris Guy, his beloved daughter McKenna Guy, and his brother Scot Guy. He is predeceased by his father, Jeff Guy.

A proud Londoner, Kent spent most of his career immersed in the world of broadcasting—an industry he not only loved, but helped shape. Widely known as a walking encyclopedia of radio and broadcast history, Kent’s passion for storytelling and media was matched only by his generosity within the field. He mentored countless individuals as they launched their careers, sharing his immense knowledge freely and inspiring many with his unmatched talent for promotions, events, and marketing.

Kent’s role as Associate Director, Community Relations at the Ronald McDonald House Southwestern Ontario was among his most meaningful accomplishments. His work on the organization’s recent brand modernization was a project he held close to his heart. He took great pride in creating an environment that felt like home for families during their most difficult times. Kent was adored by his colleagues, volunteers, and the families he so compassionately served.

A gifted professor at Fanshawe College, Kent poured his heart into teaching and mentoring the next generation of media professionals. His students and colleagues alike admired his enthusiasm, humour, and dedication. Many credit Kent with shaping not only their careers, but also their confidence, creativity, and sense of purpose.

Kent had a remarkable way of showing up in people’s lives—whether through friendship, guidance, collaboration, or a well-timed joke. His presence left an imprint on all who knew him, and many will carry a piece of him forever.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Kent’s best friends Barry and Judy McGonigle, Deborah and Brian Gibbs, and Angela Martin for their unwavering dedication, love, and care as Kent faced his illness at home. Their commitment gave him comfort, dignity, and peace, and allowed McKenna to cherish precious time with her dad. The family is profoundly grateful, and there are no words to express the depth of their appreciation.

Kent and I worked briefly together many, many years ago at Corus. We shared an office and he was truly remarkable to watch. His creativity, relationships, passion for events and perfection were evident in everything he did. Our paths never crossed again but as a community member I have seen the impact his work has had over the years. Thinking of his daughter and the rest of his friends and family during this difficult time.

Brother, I'll miss you and your ridiculous sense of humour. I will continue the fight for us both in your honour. You were and are so special to so many, know you truly left your mark on many of us. RIP my friend.

~ Dan

Kent was one of the first I met in the radio / entertainment industry in starting at Budweiser Gardens (now Canada Life Place) in 2013. I learned so much from him. His energy was contagious as a jack of all trades marketer... promos, photos, partnerships, production... the list goes on. As the years went on Kent remained a steadfast support of me and my career, even in moving provinces away. He was a relationship builder that kept the London community close and lent a hand anywhere needed. Memories I'll never forget (amongst many more shows and events) are when he surprise decorated a suite for my birthday at a London Knights game and when he also surprise called Brett Kissel for me at my going away party at Toboggan. I especially enjoyed when my boss Chris Campbell snuck away for "security meetings" with Kent and crew. More envious than anything as he came back in stitches laughing to tears. Kent you've made a profound impact and will be missed so much. We all love you. You will shine through McKenna and it's been beautiful seeing her grow over the past decade into an incredible person. The way she spoke at your service was impeccable and would make you so proud. Sending much love to all of Kent's family and friends. xxx --Bethany

Kent and I knew each other through OSSSA and student leadership in the late 80s. My good fortune was to continue to see him and cross paths many, many times over the years. A true gem of a human, and a gentleman who will be missed.

~ Ian Tyson

Kent and I worked together for many years at Corus Entertainment and I have several treasured pictures that he took at the many events we attended. He will be missed.

~ Leigh Robert

He was a role model to so many and a friend to everyone he met. I will miss his Friday morning hellos. My heartfelt sympathies to McKenna and to all his family and friends.

~ Sue Stewart

I went to Westminster S.S. with Kent. We reconnected through Facebook years ago. I loved to give him a hard time about his "So many days to Christmas" posts haha. Seriously though, Kent was an outstanding, kind and generous person and it's clear he will be missed by many. Thankfully his memories will live on through his family, friends and anyone else he crossed paths with through his lifetime. Deepest condolences to Kent's family.

Sorry for your great loss MacKenna. Kent truly was one of a kind. He has definitely left a huge impact which truly says what a special man he was. He was so proud of you and he has taught you to carry on as he would. Memories are the key and you have so many. Sonya

It is with sadness that Kent has passed away. He was always positive, a great friend and a loving father. He was smart, hard working, diligent and loyal. He will be missed. Rest in peace my friend.

~ Tom McNeely

With fondest of memories of Kent during radio days at CJBK and BX93. He was the perfect fit to the radio family along side of his dad … and beautiful mom. What an amazing family…his presence would make anyone smile. After I left radio I was fortunate enough to reconnect with Kent when he was in the marketing space downtown London in 2011/12. Same beautiful smile and embracing personality. My condolences go to Kent’s family and friends. He will always be remembered for the footprint he has left behind. Such a beautiful person and one more angel who will always be present in our lives. You’re in our hearts and prayers.

~ Leanna (nee Axford / Hamill) Westbrook

My deepest condolences to the family. Kent and I met in high school and we remained friends throughout the years. I can without a doubt say he was the mist sincere, giving person I have ever met. Just an amazing guy!

~ Mike Sheehan

Doris and family, I am so sorry to read of Kent’s passing, you are in my thoughts at this sad time. Kent sounds like a wonderful man.

~ Gayle campbell

We met Kent in Panama several years ago. A true gentleman and kind man. His daughter being the love of his life. Much too young. Rest in peace Kent .

~ Kim and Kevin dermott

Many moons ago, as a young, naive and bubbly event organizer for London's Canada Day festivities I had little clue for what I had gotten into nor what I was doing (but hid it much better than I can these days). Kent took me under his wing and taught me the basics including the difference between bongo drums and an electric guitar. He was kind as he tutored me... and a lifelong friendship was forged. Our paths crossed numerous times over the years. He was always there when I asked... and I made certain that I was always there should he. I reflect on the positive influence Kent had brought into my life and I am deeply saddened for his loss. My sincere condolences to Doris, McKenna and Scot.

This is so heartbreaking. It’s been years since I’ve left London and last saw Kent. He was always ‘the kid’ or ‘little Jeff’. But he made such an imprint on my life. Little did he know, he played an immense part of my journey. So many great memories at BX93 but what always stood out was the people. His dad Jeff and Kent himself played a huge part in shaping my time there and the radio station itself. Kent, you are missed beyond and I’m so honored to have known you. Love you the family and friends of Kent. He was special indeed.

~ David Kaye

I knew Kent in a few different settings: when I came back into politics he was at the radio station where I did my first panel. When I served on the LAWC board he was one of the chairs. And finally when he gave this single, art-loving mom and her entourage passes to visit the Van Gogh and Monet exhibits at Kellogg Lane. I know Kent got as much joy from giving the kids a chance to experience this as I did bringing them. From reading all the tributes the last few days, it's clear Kent was many things to many people and that is what a lot of us wish to make of our lives. We are thinking of all Kent's close family and friends and remembering Kent in the best way.

~ Bronagh, Rain, Holly, Brooke-Lynn, Miriam, and A'Kyra

Although we only had the privilege of meeting Kent a few times, it was clear that he was a devoted and proud father. Whether he was at sporting events or taking pictures at special occasions, his love for McKenna shone through. Kent’s legacy lives on in McKenna and the love he shared with those around him. Our sincere condolences.

~ Gavin, Nancy, Hunter & Griffin Craig

Thinking of all of Kent’s family and friends, the list is endless. I will forever remember his kindness to me when I lost my brother, giving me Rock the Park tickets because I needed to “have some happy” Kent had a way of making me smile when I thought I had no smiles left.

~ Kelly Roy

Today I walked into a restaurant establishment and saw on the washroom door KGuy. That was my sign. I felt it. You may know the chain I am talking about. Thank you, Kent for always showing up for me and countless others. For decades he never forgot my birthday, sending a box of old-fashioned candy where-ever I was in the world just to give me a bit of joy. This was one very special human with intense capacity to love others unconditionally. How fortunate those of us who crossed paths with Kent truly are. RIP, you amazing human being. We will never forget you.

~ SM

Kent the Guy … the Real True Guy .. a gentleman whose kindness, care, empathy and solid friendship was a gift to many. Always with his lightning quick wit, excellent sense of humour and professionalism is a trademark he carried with him. We had a long chat a few weeks ago at Costco along with his partner in crime DJ Williams. He shared about the abrupt medical episode he encountered at an outdoor function he was producing and next thing he knew, was in an ambulance. Life changed then though not his perseverance, positive attitude and his gratefulness for a life well lived. May his memory be eternal. 🙏🏼
