Margaret Sylvia “Bunty” Teachout

December 16, 2025

With immense sorrow we say goodbye to our Mum / Grandma / Great Grandma / Big Grandma / GiGi. Peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, Bunty passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 in her 95th year.  She was the loving wife of Edgar “Ted” Teachout, and the cherished mother of Rick Teachout (Wendy Carroll), Lynn Henson (Mike) and Kathy Okonski (Mark). Bunty was the grandmother of Heather Teachout, Erin Teachout, Jenn Cramer (Jessie), Christopher Henson (Patti), Ashley Mutch (Keith), Courtney Triebner (Jamie), Kelly Okonski (Len Caballes) and Sheri McIntosh (Jon). In addition, Bunty had sixteen great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored. She was predeceased by her loving parents Carl and Vera Ingimundson, and her siblings Elaine Hood and David Ingimundson.

Bunty was born in St. Catharines, Ontario.  Her family moved around and lived in numerous cities throughout her childhood.  She met her beloved husband Ted in Welland, Ontario where they began their lives together. They married in 1951 and moved to London, Ontario in 1963. Bunty was an accountant and spent most of her career at CKSL radio station in London as their office manager.  In early retirement years, with their combined love of nature, Bunty and Ted moved to a quiet secluded home in Port Franks.  With Ted’s interest in reptiles their home not only included their dogs Missy, Susie and Sam but also many turtles, tortoises and alligators!!  In addition to her love for nature and animals, Bunty enjoyed painting, writing and was an avid reader.  Her choice of non-fiction material often included topics to expand her knowledge and provide lively discussions. Throughout her life, Bunty was a wonderful caregiver.  She was the prime caregiver for several family members including the love of her life, Ted.  After Ted passed away in 1999, Bunty made it her mission to provide help to cancer patients and their loved ones who needed support and someone to talk to. For over 20 years Bunty provided in-person cancer support to individuals at Wellspring in a group called “Bunty’s Bunch”, as well as virtual support during Covid and for individuals who needed support remotely. Bunty also spent countless hours volunteering with the Canadian Cancer Society providing phone calls to individuals across Canada who needed support. She was an instrumental mentor to so many people and a contributor to numerous causes.

Bunty was very interested and proud of her Icelandic heritage.  In her retirement years, she took her children on many trips around the world with Iceland being their first adventure.  Her quick mind, devotion to family and friends and loving and generous nature, made her the remarkable woman we will always remember. She was the heart of her family and will be missed dearly.

A special thanks to her many wonderful caregivers, the volunteers at London Lending Library, the LHSC staff and all her at-home VON, ParaMed and St. Elizabeth staff members who provided Bunty with exceptional care.
