Frederick Charles Henry (Fred)

January 3, 1931 - January 20, 2026

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dearly loved, cherished and remarkable father, Fred Henry, on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at age 95.

Fred was an extraordinary man who made an impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.  A devoted husband, father, Papa and friend, he lived to help and support others, especially his treasured family.

Fred was born on January 3, 1931 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  In 1951, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and in 1953, he married his loving wife, Lorna (née Lynch), who sadly passed away in 2010.  Fred enjoyed a 25-year career with the RCAF and during those years, he and Lorna welcomed five children; Gord (Linda), Sheila (Joe), David (Anne), Karen (d 2022) and Donna (Matt).  Following his RCAF career, Fred started Fred Henry Electric in London, Ontario, which thrived for over 30 years.  Following his retirement, he and Lorna were devoted snowbirds, where great friendships were made, dance moves perfected, and golf games improved.  In his later years, Fred immersed himself in the things he loved the most; his children, 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and, of course, his beloved Toronto Blue Jays and anything associated with golf.

Above all, Fred was an optimist and had a knack for finding the positive in any situation.  We will all miss him tremendously, but his generous spirit, warm heart and love of family will be with us always.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Jamie Wickett and the staff at Parkwood Veterans Institute for their incredible care and devotion to our Dad.

It was an absolute pleasure to have known your dad during his time at Parkwood. It was very rare for him to miss an exercise session where he would walk in the gym and say did you catch that game last night. We sure loved our chats about the Jays. Even when I went down to a casual position and he caught me in I’d see him give me a big wave the second he saw me when I’d take a shift. May your memories bring you comfort during this difficult time.

Sending my sincere condolences to the family. I have many fond memories of growing up across the street from Fred and Lorna, visiting them on their porch and being welcomed to help myself to their pop fridge. They were neighbourhood grandparents to our little gang of kids who played on the road in front of their house in the 80s, and I will always remember their presence in my childhood with gratitude.

Dear Sheila & Joe, I have such fond memories of spending time at the Henry house on Leroy Ave. It was the early ’70s, and your dad always made me feel like I was just another one of his kids. He was a fun-loving, kind, and generous man, and he will be missed very much. I take comfort in knowing he’s now reunited with his one true love, your mom Lorna. ❤️ Sending hugs and love to all of you. Dan & Linda
