William James Bonk
January 25, 2026
With deep love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of William James Bonk—William, known to his friends and family as Bill, Billy and Billy Komoka was a devoted husband, proud father, cherished grandfather, beloved brother, and a steady presence to all who were fortunate enough to know him. William’s life was defined by commitment to family, quiet strength, and the kind of everyday kindness that leaves a lasting imprint.
William passed away peacefully at 84 years of age on January 25, 2026, at Victoria Hospital. William faced his illness with courage and was cared for with compassion at the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre, for which the family remains sincerely thankful.
At the heart of William’s world was his marriage to Ans, his beloved wife and partner in life. Together, they built a home grounded in love, loyalty, and shared memories; one that welcomed others with warmth and made people feel they belonged. Their bond was the cornerstone of William’s life, and their story is one of enduring devotion.
William was a proud father to Simon (Nathalie), Robin (Carol), and Todd (Dessa). He took immense pride in his children and the lives they built, offering his support not with fanfare, but with consistency. He was always ready with encouragement, practical help, and a listening ear. Whether through steady guidance or simple moments spent together, William’s love as a father was constant and deeply felt.
One of William’s greatest joys was being “Pa” to William, Nicholas (Kaisa), and Skyler. He delighted in their stories, their milestones, and the everyday moments that become treasured memories. His grandchildren knew him as someone who made time, who showed up, and who loved them wholeheartedly, creating a legacy of family connection that will continue for generations.
Billy was a much-loved brother. He shared lifelong bonds with his sisters Marianne, Barbara. Lori (Gerry), and Patricia, and his brothers Terry (Peggy), Bernie (Debbie), and Michael (Darcy). He was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, and his steady presence and kind heart will be missed across generations of family. Billy was someone to count on.
More than anything, William will be remembered for the love he gave so freely and the life he lived with purpose: showing up for his family, valuing relationships, and leaving behind a legacy rooted in care, connection, and constancy. Though his absence will be deeply felt, his spirit will remain close; in stories shared at the table, in lessons passed down, and in the love that continues through the family he cherished.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Friday, January 30, 2026 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Those wishing to donate in memory of William are asked to consider the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre.

I send my sincere condolences to the entire Bonk family. I had the opportunity to see first hand how much of a loving and caring man Bill was. He loved his family deeply. Throughout the years he showed his love and devotion to his grandsons William and Nicholas in so many ways. Always being a pivotal part of their lives. When I first heard of Bill's passing a sense of deep sadness but also gratitude for countless memories shared with him and Ans. Pa was the first person called to fix a lawnmower and was always willing to help if we had plumbing or electrical issues. William would say to me Pa can fix anything. And he could. Even making a Halloween costume of a wrench for Willlam and getting his first tool set as child. I remember fondly watching Nicholas sit on the riding lawn mower with his Pa, and always encouraging Nicholas with his piano lessons. Always willing to listen to a new piece he learned. Thank you Pa for everything you have done for us. We will cherish the memories and will miss you terribly.
