Anna Artuso
February 7, 2026
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our mother, Anna Artuso, in her 92nd year on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, Antonio (Tony) Artuso (2012).
Anna leaves behind her three children, Art, Patricia, and Giovanna (Paul Bates), and her three treasured grandchildren, Mathew and Jaclyn Artuso, and Sienna Artuso Bates.
Anna was born in Mussolente, Vicenza, Italy, in 1934 to Elisabetta Sonda (1902 – 1980) and Luigi Ravagnolo (1897 – 1973). She was predeceased by her siblings in Italy, Giovanna (1962), Antonio (2012), and Prisca (2009). She is survived by her beloved twin sisters, Lina and Luciana, who recently travelled to Canada to celebrate Anna’s 90th birthday.
Seventy years ago this April, at the young age of 21, Anna bravely embarked on a life-changing journey to Canada. She left behind her family, friends, and the familiarity of her home in Italy to marry Tony. Though separated by great distance, she maintained a strong and loving bond with her family in Italy throughout her life. Together, Anna and Tony built a new life and shared a lifelong, happy marriage devoted to family.
She immigrated to a country she knew little about and a language she did not speak, knowing only Tony, and willing to find a happy future. Arriving by boat at Pier 21 in Halifax, she carried a small trunk of linens and clothes, a few dollars in her purse, and a heart full of love and hope. Early days were not easy.
Anna’s gift of good nature, peacemaking and a profound understanding of human nature were the foundations of a life admired by many friends. A few words from Anna could solve any problem. A long conversation would guide a friend or family member through a life decision.
Anna created a loving, safe, and welcoming home for her family and her many friends, whether through her generous hospitality, preparing amazing Italian dishes or spending countless hours supporting those who needed comfort and care. Her door was always open, whether for a coffee, a conversation or a shoulder to cry on.
She was a woman of strong Catholic faith, resilience, intelligence, style, beauty, and grace. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 13, 2026, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Westview Funeral Home, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. Prayers start at 6:15 p.m.

Dear Giovanna We've grown-up together and your mom was always constat in my life. Your mom was amazing, loving and filled with kindness, it hurts that I cannot be with you during this difficult time I had prayed that I would see her upon my return. I hope she is together with your dad in heaven enjoying each other again? My sincere condolences to you Giovanna, Art and Patti, Paul, Sienna.
I was blessed to have known her, a beautiful woman with class and grace. Rest in paradise Zia Anna, Art, Patti, Giovanni, may God give you comfort and peace knowing your mother is reunited with her loving husband ❤️ Love you all ❤️
What a beautiful tribute for an incredibly classy and kind woman. Zia Anna, I remember being so fascinated with her as a young child. Her and Zio Tony always so upbeat and happy whenever they were at my Nono and Nona’s house. Dressed with respect and pride, she may have been my great aunt but she will always be known as my Zia Anna. I’m pretty sure I thought she was a celebrity as a child. I guess that’s just the energy she carried with her throughout her life. She will be missed by many, but I can only imagine what that reunion was like for Zio Tony. Rest in paradise Zia. Love you. Xo.

To Art, Patti and Giovanna - my heart goes out to you and your families. Anna was a wonderful woman kind, generous and always warm and loving. I can picture myself walking into the kitchen on McKenzie Ave - knowing there was a huge plate of cold cuts and cheese for panini! She had the best spread - for a crop of kids who then danced like crazy monkeys in the back room. She was my godmother at Holy Rosary Church when I had my confirmation and have a photo in my book of that day. I was very proud. My condolences to you all - it is a huge loss. hugs
