VIOLA CATHERINE STEPHENSON (1938-2026)

Peacefully, at Victoria Hospital, Viola Catherine Stephenson passed away on March 30, 2026, in her 88th year. Viola is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Rodney Stephenson; her daughter, Laura Jewell (David); her son, Robert  Palanuk (Rosanna); and her cherished grandson, Luke. She is also survived by her brother, Bob McDonald (Denise) of London; her sister, Barbara Godin (Robin) of Mackenzie, B.C.; and many loved members of her extended family: Grant Stephenson (Anne), Nancy Olson (Alan), Judy Lutman (Mike), Gavin Stephenson-Jackman (Mark), Graham Stephenson (Janna), Karen Stephenson (Skylar), and Gordon White. Viola was predeceased by her mother, Dorothy McDonald; her father, John Jay; and her sister, Dorothy Saunders. Born in Toronto, Vi later settled in London, where she made her home and most recently enjoyed her time at Masonville Manor. Viola took great pride in her volunteer work and in her career with Revenue Canada, completing an English Degree at Western while a single, working mother. Always curious and active, Viola enjoyed reading, golfing, exercise classes, bowling, travelling, being a member of the Red Hat Society, Seniors Learning in Retirement, and daily walks with her furry friends, Jazzy and Bonnie.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Cardiac Care and Palliative Care units at LHSC for the exceptional care and kindness shown to Viola in her final weeks.

Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at St. John the Divine Anglican Church, 21557 Richmond Street, Arva, on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
