Helen Gertrude Ford

Helen Gertrude Ford, age 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 20, 2026. Born on May 19, 1939, Helen grew up in Wingham, where the values and interests that guided her life were first formed.  She was predeceased by her parents, William and Grace Ford.

Helen devoted her professional life to education, spending many years as a high school teacher based out of Deep River, Ontario. She taught Geography at Mackenzie High School and Fellows High School in Renfrew County, where she was known for her dedication to her students and her love of learning.

Following her teaching career, Helen retired to London, Ontario, where she remained socially active and engaged in her community. She was a valued and enthusiastic member of Newcomers, forming lasting friendships and continuing her lifelong enjoyment of connection and community involvement.  Helen embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm. She enjoyed playing bridge and golf, and she had a deep passion for travel, exploring destinations around the world and collecting memories along the way.

Helen will be sadly missed by her family, friends, former colleagues, and all those whose lives she touched.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Westview Funeral Home, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Monday, May 11, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.   A light lunch will be provided as “Memories of Helen” are shared, starting at 12:15 p.m.   Cremation has taken place, with interment at Wingham Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honour of Helen’s memory to St. Joseph’s Hospice.
