To all of Lew’s family and closest friends I am very sorry for your loss. I was a teacher of English and a Senior Football coach at Clarke Road in the 1970’s and I was fortunate to teach and coach Lew for several years. He was a very fine young man and always a real gentleman. There is no doubt in my mind that he was also a great family man and a true professional as a firefighter. Rest in peace, Lew. Pat

So sorry to hear of Lew’s passing. I worked with Lew for a number of years at #5 fire station, where he set a high standard of personal performance in the station and on scene. He was an excellent mentor for junior firefighters who were trying to understand their duties and hone their skills. You knew Lew was near by his booming voice and hearty infectious laugh. It was a pleasure to work with him over the years. My condolences to his family.

My condolences to Barb and Mackenzie, I still remember meeting Lew May 11th 1981 on our first day of training for the LFD. After 45 years of playing ball, hockey and golf against him left me frustrated as he was always the better athlete, at least I could beat him at squash. The world is a lesser place without him.

Uncle Lew was a super cool guy. To be honest, I probably spent more time with him at family gatherings smoking in various garages than with my blood family relatives at our regular Thompson events. I have always loved his style and I deeply appreciate him for the work he did. In all respect to his dedicated work as a firefighter (one of the most righteous jobs in the world)... the man sure had a voice fit for radio! You will be missed.
