Wesley “Wes” James Keener

Peacefully at University Hospital, London on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at the age of 83, Wes Keener passed away.

Beloved husband of the late Beth Keener for 47 years. Loving father of Stephanie Goddard (Andy) and Amber Hawrelak (Rob). Cherished grandpa “Papa” of Megan, Brendan, Bennett, Gavin, Taylor and Jordyn. Brother of Arlene Keener, Bob Keener and the late Bill and Alan Keener.  Wes will forever be in the hearts of many extended family and friends.

Wes was a lifelong learner and passionate about education throughout his life. He was a teacher and principal, and in retirement, an associate professor at Althouse College.  He loved sports, cherished his family and took great pride in his grandchildren. As their biggest supporter, he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on and share in their successes.

In keeping with Wes’s wishes, a memorial bench will be placed in Springbank Park. Both Wes and Beth spent countless hours down at the park. Those wishing to honour his memory are invited to make a donation toward this tribute. (E-transfers can be made to amberhawrelak@icloud.com.)

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 709 Wonderland Road North, on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at 2:00 p.m., with a reception to follow.
