Frances Brown Thompson

It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Frances Brown Thompson, who passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the remarkable age of 106.

Born on March 8, 1920, Frances grew up in Cornwall, Ontario before building her vibrant life in Scarborough, Uxbridge, and London.  She was a woman known for her wonderful sense of humour, her warm spirit, and her beautiful poetry. Frances connected deeply with others, building solid, meaningful friendships throughout her lifetime.  Of all the places she lived and visited, her absolute favourite place to be was at the family cottage on Lake Weslemkoon, where countless treasured memories were created surrounded by nature, family, and peaceful days by the water.

She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Douglas Lyall Thompson, who predeceased her.

Frances leaves behind a devoted family who will miss her quick wit, gentle presence, and endless love.  She was the cherished mother of Murray (Angie), Tom (Dianne), and Anne (Dave).  She was also the proud and loving grandmother of Dan, Cheryl, Glenn, Bonnie, Meagan, and Shannon, and the great-grandmother of Christian, Dominic, and Zacky.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Sheila Doiron, Fran’s personal care worker and dear friend, who supported her with kindness, dignity, and respect for over 20 years.

A memorial service for Frances will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to London Health Sciences Centre, The London Food Bank, or Help Lesotho.
