Betty Katherine Smith

August 6, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce Betty Katherine Smith passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Thursday, August 6, 2026 in her 91st year. Reunited with her husband of 55 years, Steven Smith. Loving mother of Laurie Sharratt (Gary) and Mark and Brent Smith (Tanya). Proud grandmother of Matthew, Noah and Michael. Sister to Jimmy Tarbet (Susan). Betty will be lovingly missed by all of her extended family and friends.

Betty worked as a registered nurse in Brockville, where she met and married Steven.  They landed in London and, together, they raised their family until her retirement. Betty had a talent for painting china and enjoyed teaching others who shared her love for the art. In her spare time, you could find Betty working in the garden.

In keeping with her wishes, funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Riverside United Church, 451 Dunedin Drive, London on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow to share memories and celebrate Betty’s life.

For those wishing to make a donation in Betty’s memory are encouraged to consider the Canadian Cancer Society.
